Make damn sure you have hearingPro on when you shoot that SOCOM16. That thing is unbelievably loud. Keep an eye on the used market as I see a lot of them come through the local gun stores with less than 100 rounds through them.
I'm kinda with Jester on the bullpups. The AUG has tempted me from time to time but the idea of a bad round detonating next to my face gives me pause. I'd hate to ruin my Ogreish bad looks.

Only Bullpup that I'm interested in is the Keltec KSG.

Mostly Magpul furniture (battlelink minimalist stock). Delton 16 inch mid length gas system upper on a rock river lower. Cheap ass UTG light and a Burris TAC 30 1x4 scope.

I originally was running a red dot so I have the fixed front post with the folding rear Magpul sight.

Very nice. Any reason you went with the carbine length gas system over the mid lenght?
I had originally wanted to go with a red dot but due to my glasses Rx I had to rezero if I switched between glasses and contacts. So I went with the Burris scope instead. Of course then I went and got LASIK so I could have just ran a red dot anyway. Oh well. The Burris works well for me. It's an etched reticle so it'll run without batteries or I if I want I can make it turn red. The reticle itself looks kind of like an Eotech but it has bullet drop compensation. Supposedly out to 600 yards but the farthest I can shoot around here is 200 yards. It's worked well for that.

I don't shoot heavy bullets out of it and it's only a 16" so the carbine length works fine.

I don't plan on shooting anything that's not suppressed without hearing protection. Don't have the spare cash for the SOCOM right now, spent most of it on the XDM, but I'll keep my eyes open. As for the bad rounds, there is that, but I absolutely love the idea of a compact rifle that doesn't sacrifice barrel length, so that outweighs the risks in my mind. It's not something I intend to run out and buy now, but I'm definitely going to follow the RDB to see what kind of reputation it earns.

Finally got to put a few rounds downrange today. This is the result. As you can see, I was shooting a bit low, likely due to my own inexperience with pistols. 7 out of 40 shots fired hit the black. I r potato.

Should post a picture of my G3, it's a deactivated firearm, but it's still nice to have as a showpiece.

I need to get a picture of the family 100 gun safe. Next time I'm up I'll take a picture of it.

The SOCOM 16 is very front heavy with all the tactical rail shit they put on it, and loud as hell indoors. The Scout Squad version is a little cleaner. Scout Squad is my dream rifle. I'd love to pick one up someday. Ive never had an issue with a Springfield that Ive owned. Until then I'm sticking with my trusty Arsenal Inc. SLR101s. Of course that's assuming I can stop buying Glocks at some point. I'm up to seven.

I forgot to ask...is that .40? I hate .40. Something weird about the recoil. Its more of a snap versus the push of .45.

.45. I'm a firm believer in the old saying "Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet."

With the low pattern, I'd say you were squeezing your entire hand as you pulled the trigger, which wouldslighhtly jerk the point of aim low as you fired.
Buy a handfull of the 'snap caps' and practice your trigger pull, or just dry fire at home.
As far as the .45 saying - 9mm in the chest will have te same effect as a .45. Both put a hole in someone and makes their train of thought go elsewhere.
IMO the .40 is a worthless round. It's called the '.40 Short & Weak' for a reason. 10mm is the way to go.
