Just got the Myogi.. I'd rather have the clap. The Kongo will put a smile on your face man. You will laugh out loud to yourself every time you play it. It is retardedly powerful.

Glad to hear that Dio:-) I gave random battles another go today, soon regretted it. My teams spent their time running away (not kiting as they weren't even firing) then sinking. Game after game. Back to co-op for me.

Learned a few things today.
1: any tier 7 ship foolish enough to get close to Hood gets deleted. At point blank her guns are apocalyptic. I know BB guns are anyway but my Hood deleted 2 same tier BBs earlier, 1 after the other, much to my amusement. A Scharnhorst and the US BB, and WG owe me commission on the sale of two HMS Hood's (and Yurei by extension).
2: Atlanta's are nasty, evil little bastards.
3: mod pack voice overs get old fast
4: OKTYABRSKAYA REVOLUTSIYA is a fun ship, bit weird, but fun (capital letters used as i had to copy and paste that name and that's just how it was. Not about to attempt to spell that myself).

Come children, bask in the glow of her continuous rain of meteoric fireballs. I found out in an embarrassing way in random battle. I was aiming a shot at a New Mexico in Hood, and i was watching my map, however a tiny fort on a miniscule island was merely a speck on the map and i didn't notice it and ploughed into it. I was also unaware of 2 enemy Atlanta's parked behind a short island 10km away. I managed to survive, they didn't, but i had less than 2k hp left before i got clear and used my heals. Never had any other ship melt my hp so quickly. Do they ever need to reload? it was, like you say, a rain of fire.

The Atlanta has a 5-second reload for her 8-dual gun turrets. If they were firing cyclic, you probably had about a 3.5 second gap between the last shell fired and the first of the next volley. Even without Adrenaline Rush, that’s theoretically 192 shells per minute. And that’s just one ship. I run IFHE and DE so not only do my shells perforate BB/CA superstructure, but they will punch right through DD and CL side armor. And never forget that she has AP. I’ve gotten 8 citadels in a single salvo when an Atago made the mistake of trying to flush me out from behind an island. And, with delicious irony, I finished her with my puny American Torps.
As a DD player, I hate seeing an Atlanta on the red team. I honestly fear them more than the Belfast. That RoF and radar is like a Crucifix to my vampiric DDs.
With all that said, keep in mind that she is basically a big destroyer with a citadel, so, as you probably saw, she dies very quickly once she starts to take incoming fire.
One of the funniest thigs I’ve seen in game was two Atlantas on my team feasting on ship after ship from the OpFor that tried an “up-the-slot” push on Two Brothers. They sat back next to our CV and rained fire up and down the slot. The salt coming from the OpFor was legendary.

I'm going to have to be very wary of those ships then. The firepower coming from them was insane. Fortunately for me they decided to remain stationary, and like you say they aren't good at taking hits.
People going up the slot are a bit daft, feel a bit sorry for them though, trapped in there with no room to move to even attempt to evade or escape. Must have been brutal/hilarious to watch.
Any of you guys on tonight btw?

You’ve been playing using your touchpad? That makes my skin crawl! Your whole experience is going to improve 80% with a mouse R35t.

Having to try and change aim quickly is about as easy as doing a U-turn in an articulated lorry in an alley way, and i've go no idea how to use the MMB with it as that doesn't exist. I'm going to pick up a mouse, would one of the ones with the scroller ball thing be worth picking up or is a traditional mouse a better option?

I use one with the scrolling wheel and control the zoom that way. I didn't go for a gaming mouse as I don't need/can't utilize all the side buttons. I just got a good general-purpose wireless mouse.

I made sure to get one with a scroller as the zoom sounds great.
Just started the US CA grind, on the ST Louis atm, that ship has too many guns, it's covered in them. Not sure if i should be using AP or HE though?

Either is a good selection. It lights a lot of fires, but its shell velocity like most american ships is High arcs and long shell travel time. Many guns like that means if you get ap close range on a cruiser you will massacre them.
I had a 121,000 damage game the other day in the Schors. IFHE on a soviet cruiser is apallingly unfair. I honestly felt bad for the Missouri. Battleships literally melt before the solar flare that is soviet guns. I hit a tier 9 american battleship for 7,000 damage a broadside, every 6 seconds until she had 4 fires. Then I turned and sailed away as she burned to death and sank.
I actually felt gross. Many thanks to Formula for enlightening me to IFHE.

Not sure if i should be using AP or HE though? It's slow and hard to get out of a tight spot, but the gun layout on the thing is just insane and the armor is decent. Even when turning you can keep aimed and click as each gun swings into firing position (though you have to click just right before they swing back out of position), giving you a sequenced effect. And when broadside it's hilarious to watch the number of shells that come flying out of it. It's a keeper, IMHO. Probably the first one I've come across so far. Love it. ADDING: No clue about HE vs. AP, but I do load AP for cruisers. It. Murders. Them.

If you are fighting a battleship, and they are higher tier than you, or angled, shoot HE for the guaranteed damage and fires. If you light a bb on sire and he used his repair kit, sail away or keep blasting, depending on how ballsy you are feeling.
If an enemy is broadside to you, especially cruisers, give them the AP. You can even do this with BBs as you may get a few pens, depending on what tier it is. Cruisers will be citideled brutally with AP, but some will bounce pretty much everything if well angled or bow on (Buddyonny)
DDs should always be hit with HE. Always.

Frankly, it's a lot like WoT where you have to memorize weak spots to do well. Knowing what ships your AP can pen, and where to aim (ie at the superstructure, or upper belt, etc) is a large part of knowing when to use AP or HE.
