A wonderful project, but it was just too expensive and complex to be finished. I wish it had honestly, along with the TSR.2 from Britain, and the F-106C/D/X series from the US. Those three would have been the most advanced aircraft of the cold war era had they come into being. Don't get me started on the bloody TSR. When planes was a thing of the past. |

The TSR.2 if it had been allowed to continue would quite easily be in service today in an updated form. And theres even the possibility that it would present as the strategic strike component of several NATO countries

But really, really tiny. |

Even sadder was that the British never even went through with the F-111 deal, leaving them without a true modernized strike aircraft until the Panavia Tornado. They did have some Blackburn Buccaneers and F-4 Phantom IIs, but those will never be as good as the TSR.2 was supposed to be... |

But the Bucc was a good plane once they got rid of the gutless DH Gyron Junior engines and fitted Speys. But it wasnt a supercruising (before that was a thing) supersonic death machine |
