Please keep my new son in your prayers, he was sent to NICU with a possible blood infection as well as not being able to maintain temp ( staying at 96 degrees)

Poor little dude is certainly going through it, hopefully antibiotics/antivirals will kick the infection in the face. Sending you all the biggest hugs I can too.

Good news is he’s maintaining normal temp.
Still waiting on blood culture to see if he has infection. but is on antibiotics to be on the safe side.
They said he was supposed to get a cat scan but then that was cancelled, no real answer as to why yet. Kinda pissed over that one.
Also still trying to figure out if there is a set standard for how many pop offs are allowed when a vacuum device is used to assist with c-section extraction
Thanks for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes guys

That's much better news, glad he's maintaining normal temp. My experiences of c sections have been non suction, did not even know it was a thing. And we don't suction in veterinary. Make hole, take out baby. Seems strange to me.

Hell hes not even that big, only 6 lbs 13 oz, 19 1/2 inches long. Hopefully can bring him home today.

Brought him home yesterday, lasted several hours before we took him back to hospital for his temp falling to 96 degrees. Brought him home again and knock on wood his temp went back up and is holding steady. No cause why
Also was diagnosed with HYPOXIC ISCHEMIC ENCEPHALOPATHY but no idea how severe yet.
Sorry for the all caps, using my phone and it was copy/paste

Just think of how burly he will be and how potent his immune system will be after all of this.

Stress is back.
Found out today he is hypotonic ( muscle weakness/ not developed) in all his limbs. So need to start PT next week in addition to having an MRI on his brain to see what if any damage was done to his brain at birth and to see if the initial diagnosis of HIE is correct or if it's something else. His head is basically off the chart percentile wise( in size) for his age, ultrasound in his head showed small amount of fluid build up on his skull which they say is expected given everything else.
Good news is we found a neurologist who is taking our concerns seriously, I get to piss off my lazy co workers when I take time off for his therapy and doc appointments, and he's a tough kid and we are still hopeful things will be alright. An abundance of caution.
Just a long ass day at the hospital.

We have dealt with similar issues with our son who is now 8. He also has muscle weakness and we've been through all kinds of physicians with various other things that have come up. It hasn't been easy dealing with all of these things, but it has gotten better. I can't take away the stress from you, but only give some understanding and hope. Will be praying for you and your family as you all walk through it.

Thanks guys it's appreciated. We have no idea if he has any brain damage or the extent if he does. Thankfully we have a neuro that's taking our concerns seriously so we can get things figured out.

Think of how tough this little one is going to be after going through all this at such a young age.
