You assume that things like widespread violence and massive bloodshed would dissuade them from going through with it but it doesn't and it won't.

I actually fail to believe that even America was retarded enough to muster a presidential candidate that was fully willing to watch the country descend into a literal civil war over your bloody second amendment bollocks, but if that's actually the case then have fun with that.

Lol "bloody second amendment bollocks" some people would get highly offended over that bit, but you are British so I wouldn't expect you to see it from our point of view.
The presidential candidate in question is not exactly transparent about that willingness and the vast majority of voters are too naive and complacent to believe that those kind of people exist.

It didn't offend me and I explained why it didn't in that same post. You are being pretty aggressivefor someone who hates guns and the right of law abiding citizens to own them

No you can't. What have I said that was aggressive or insulting? You definitely seem to act like everyone that votes for Clinton is a complete moron with no intelligence, so there's that, but nobody's insulted anyone yet, as far as I remember.

Nope there are otherwise completely rational and smart people that will vote for her. I don't consider a Hilary voter a retard, just someone who may want to actually look into and research more carefully who they intend to vote for other than the fact that she's a woman or a liberal.

Literally the only thing that matters to me this election is SCOTUS.
Hence the trump vote.

Support for legal gun ownership is steadily declining, not that that matters. What matters is that Hilary Obama Feinstein Schumer Bloomberg etc have been pushing to ban guns for many decades and she's certainly not going to stop if/mostly when, she becomes Mrs. President. The Justices she appoints will be rabidly antigun as well as anyone else she can replace. This is common knowledge What statistics are you looking at? DROS stats are at an all time high, and it's not just TFH types buying them. Women and minorities are buying like crazy, mostly because a decent chunk of them have come to realize the police have no legal obligation to protect you, and even if they did, they can't always be there.

Why do we care? I said it the other day and I will say it again, the 2nd Amendment was put there for self defense hunting sport shooting national defense etc etc however the first and foremost reason was to be a final line of defense against tyranny. And when a govt works tirelessly to get that last line of defense removed, to disarm law abiding citizens, what do you think they have in mind? Should that be a red flag? They're not going to take your guns.Question: Did the Firearms (Amendment) (No.2) Act 1997 have a grandfather clause in it, where anyone who bought a handgun before enactment could keep it?

I have no idea. Probably not. But I can see where you're going with this, and I'll just point out that not that many people owned a firearm anyway and it wasn't ingrained in British culture anywhere near the extent that it is in the US. It isn't written into our constitution, we don't have a sacred document that gives people the "god-given" right to own a firearms, and so it wasn't greatly opposed and people weren't as bothered about it because it's not a big thing in Britain. We don't have a "right to bear arms" in order to defend ourselves, we never have, it's just that up until 1997 it was just legal to own one. It wasn't a thing that had been instilled in the very foundations of our government and laws and society since the birth of our nation, it was just "okay to have a gun" up until 1997, and then it wasn't, and not many people were that bothered.

Gun owners are rapidly increasing yes, but the overall support for gun ownership is declining. Where are you seeing that from? The only actual hard statistics I've seen is the crazy expansion of firearms ownership in the last ten years or so, combined with an ever shrinking crime rate since the early 90s.

Oh, look, a BBC article that says "some people want guns laws relaxed" which was written in 2016, nineteen years after the act was passed and doesn't actually provide any views from when the act was introduced, and just says "some people want it to be more relaxed".

So is it alright to dismiss the opinions of those people, including Atom Priest , because it's only "some people"?

So is it alright to dismiss the opinions of those people, including Atom Priest , because it's only "some people"? I haven't "dismissed" anyone's opinions, I've disagreed and provided an argument, that isn't the same as telling someone to fuck off because they're in the minority. I said that not many people were that bothered when the Firearms (No.2) Act of 1997 was passed. You do not disprove or throw out that notion by providing an article that says that seventeen years later there are people that are opposed to the Firearms (No.2) Act of 1997. Can I ask, what would you envisage happening in the event of the second amendment being repealed and everyone in America being required to hand over their firearms? Massive protests in the capital? A huge political movement? Riots? A coup? An assassination?
