Interesting perspective- That's is so telling. I had seen the 08 and the 12 election breakdowns. They look very similar

Interesting perspective- A vote is a vote, it doesn't matter if the majority of those votes come from certain areas. If America used the purest form of representative democracy possible then Clinton would have won. This is why I don't get it when people get annoyed that old people swung the Brexit vote. A 95 year old man's vote is as equal as an 18 year old woman's. Similarly, a person who lives in New York City's vote is just as equal as a person who lives in rural South Dakota. The fact of the matter is that Clinton was more popular. I'm not saying the Electoral College is a bad thing, but it doesn't necessarily make it a good thing because it stops certain areas from swinging the result. I probably explained that really awfully.

More electoral votes come from my county then come out of North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming combined. One person, one vote.
We're a representative democracy because the founding fathers didn't trust the unwashed, uneducated masses to always make wise choices.

That's is so telling. I had seen the 08 and the 12 election breakdowns. They look very similar In '08 Obama won the popular by 10 million votes. '12 he won by 5 million votes In the populated urban areas he absolutely did. In those areas you will find a larger percentage of people who are dependent on government in the form of assistance. The Democrat party here in the US caters to those folks and the people who want that kind of assistance, 99% of the time, vote Democrat. Hence the concentrations of blue in the urban areas. I'm not saying that ONLY those folks vote Democrat, just that there are more people that want government assistance who live in higher populated areas

SLB..I don't really feel like writing a long post on why we don't have the same system that you have, but I'm sure you can imagine that there were certain things that our Founding Fathers wanted to avoid in government after our break from England.
Here is a good video that explains the rationale behind the Electoral College, a system that has worked well since the birth of our nation-

'12 he won by 5 million votes If majority rules was how this country worked at a federal level, there would be no civil rights, no women's rights, no LGBT rights. The country would have collapsed the first time one party had a majority in Congress.

You said it pal, not me... What I am saying is, people don't always WANT to use assistance. They NEED assistance. Quit thinking so selfishly. Shit happens. You've never been on unemployment? Your wife didn't use FMLA when she had your kid. No one in your family is on social security?

There were protests for that! There were protests at Hillary's rallies here in Chicago. There were a number of protest actually. They weren't sensational enough to be on TV for all to see. They were peaceful. Fox news doesn't show that stuff. How would you have ever known?
