OK, I need to get R35T an external hard drive for his xbox, but I have no idea what I'm looking for. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Steer clear of Western Digital. External HDD depends on size required mostly. But .......... Rymans have a 1TB Toshiba Ext HDD for £40 atm. Would recommend looking on BT Shop (used to be DABS) and Ebuyer too. PC World are expensive for what you get. They seem to include a premium for buying from them. Apologies tho. Haven't had to do IT Sourcing for a few years.

Just out of curiosity, why should WD be avoided?

I have one thats lasted for years and been used as a Ghost Master no problems. And others have lasted a couple of months before failing. Post Purchase Care never seemed to be a high priority to them.

Thanks One thing though, that one has to be plugged into the mains? Is there any benefit to using one that is powered by the mains rather than using one that is powered via the USB?

Not sure, but possibly with its own power source it's gaurenteed to run at optimal power whereas a USB comes from something already being powered. So maybe that would mean it's getting 2nd hand power? Totally guessing here.

The A1(M) is a hard drive, I'd recommend that if you're looking for a hard drive. Sorry, I'll leave now...

I was being half-serious, if you're going to Scotland on it, that road just goes on forever. It's so slow. The motorway is a far better route.

Don't worry about it, you can stay and talk about roads if you like. I think I'm all sorted with a hard drive now anyway
