I've lived in the states all my life and I don't think I've visited half of them. There is a lot of natural beauty and a lot of diverse of people/regional culture.

I live about 180 miles North of Minneapolis and two hours from the Canadian border in the state of Minnesota. It's very rural with lots of water and woods. Here are a few pictures of the Mississippi River (it starts 70 miles from here) in winter and just this last weekend taken within 100m of each other- 
America looks amazing. Only ever see the American cities on TV here, the rest of it looks really nice though. R35T...Thank you for the Kind comment. The majority of America is very rural, but as you mentioned, our cities get most of the press (good and bad). I live in what we call the "upper Midwest". It's made up of states with moderately sized capital cities (up to 2.5M people) and vast regions of agricultural land- Corn, soybeans, wheat, barley, dairies and beef yards. Many call it the "bread basket of America".
The specific area where I live is extremely rural- largest city is 90 miles away and has a population of 85,000 people. the rest of the towns are relatively small- mine has 10,000. The primary industry is timber, paper, mining and tourism. The county I live in has just over 1000 lakes. it's a great place to raise kids- low crime, lots of activities and pretty good schools. I'm going to miss it when my company moves me in about 1.5 years.
On a side note..I've been blessed with my life to have had the opportunity to live in Spain for 7 years and I have traveled on work and leisure to over 55 countries. I have been able to find amazing things I liked about all of them, and their cultures have provided me with a great sense of perspective (at least I think so) of how we are all inter-connected somehow in our modern world.

Pretty grey where I'm at. There were a bunch of bambis out front by my car like 20 minutes ago though, but I didn't snag a picture. It's become somewhat of a regularity. I live in the posh part of where he lives (whatever he says he's lying). Its nice because opposite is a park so all we can see from our window is trees, but I'm also close enough to a KFC and a brilliant Chinese. I used to live in the Countryside where it used to smell like R35T until I joined the Navy, met the old bat and she made me grow up and buy a house. |

The picture was from shortly after Prince died. His influence here was monumental, and he always stayed a hometown boy. |

Heck, we will probably hit 90F this week according to the weather guessers. As for taxes, well, we don't have income taxes in Tennessee but our sales tax is 9.25% and it applies to everything. They haven't figured out how to tax sex yet, but they are working on it... And while that is me on the green bike in the photo, that most definitely isn't me in the video. I've passed a lot of things on my bike, but never even seen one of those weird-ass harvesters on the road. |
