This is genuine thread wanting to learn:
im getting 1000-3800 spotting assist battles fairly regularly, but I'm generally in the 1500-2500 range when playing "spotting" tanks and pure scouts.
Ive seen many of you collecting 4000-6500 spot assist battles and an wondering if I'm missing a technique or game mechanic. Does a button have to be pushed or something? Am I just not playing high tier enough to break the 4000 barrier? I've even had really good games in the RU251, etc. but nothing will break 4000.
Please help!!!!

One thing I remember from beta was that requesting fire on a target and having someone actually shoot at and hit the target was supposed to generate more assist points. I don't think you have to be the one spotting them either, but if you are, so much the better. This is where a platoon can help, or if you work well with the green square boxes. so, mark those targets that the green team can hit and points should go up
hello to all and piss on them if they can't take a joke

Don't forget that if you track someone then you'll recieve assisted damage too, I usually do it in my Comet when my platoon focus fires a tank. If you can double bush and do it you shouldn't be spotted.
Also not sure if you know but if you're using a bush as cover, when you look through sniper view and can see the bush then you'll recieve the bushes camo value. But if when you're looking through sniper view and you can't see the bush because you're too close then you do not recieve the camo from the bush. I'm not sure what that value is but when you fire I'm sure it goes down to 15% of that value.

I have a buddy that doesn't play scouts/lights anywhere near as well as I but he has a 4000 (4) spotter ribbon and my best is (3). I'm good on bush mechanics, I just can't figure out why I'm not breaking 4K spotting alone. My best is around 3700 in the Patton 46, but I also did 3800 damage in that battle too.

It'll depend on the team line up as well don't forget. I think you'll be hard pressed to do more that to be honest, especially with how broken view ranges are in the game. I'm sure that if yourself and a TD are spotting the same tank then you share the assisted damage, so if someone does 1000 damage to a tank your Light and the TD are spotting then you get 500 each. I usually rely on tracking assisted damage and any spotting assisted damage is a bonus.

There's a slight problem with higher tier lights, and the fact that everything on your team has the same or better spotting distance as you. If you want high assisted damage consistently during battle, choose a medium tank.

Still can't break the 4000 threshold on those two tanks either though. So it sounds like I'm not failing to use an available technique, but rather just not getting it done or stars aren't aligning.
