It seems to me all this thing is about is that 120mm, which is fair enough... My problem is, I don't have the 120mm, and am quite far off it. It is a Caernarvons hull with the FV215b's turret, neither of them any good. yeah I've bounced a few shots occasionally but it just feels like paper. It seems like everyone and their mother can pen me anywhere. The 20pdr...well...I dunno what to say about it really. It's a good gun I know, don't get me wrong, but it just seems to non-stop troll me! that .31 accuracy REALLY doesn't feel like it. just countless times of either the shot dropping out the barrel or going sky high (aka, going waaay low or waaaay high, even fully aimed). Damage on it sucks too.
It's all that, combined with the AWFUL MM I've had today. Got almost 5k dmg with a little over 1k assisted earlier (with 230 alpha!) and we lost because a damn M12 rammed an obj. 704! The obj. had < 100 HP too. I just hope the M12 was out of ammo because there really was no other excuse for that.
TL:DR I hate the Conqueror and am losing the will to live with it, and REALLY don't want to grind my way to the 120mm (and I don't have the money to free-xp either). I really do want to like this tank, I just can't.
P.S. I know I should be sniping with it rn, but when the rest of your team are also doing it, It's kinda difficult. (And when i say rest, I mean it. Had an Ru 251 camping back with arty on redshire trying to snipe)

The turret's pretty good if you go completely hull down on a slight slope to increase the angle of it.
It's worth noting the FV215b actually has a better turret than the conqueror. Same design but thicker armour.
You'll get that 120 soon.

I know the pain of the Conqueror w/o the 120mm. It was terrible. Once you have it the tank becomes a monster. Easily my favorite in the game.

The 120 is worth it though. The Conqueror is very good fully upgraded, I'm having a great time in it.

I just hope the M12 was out of ammo because there really was no other excuse for that. rock solid medal. ram kill with an arty and survive. you wont belive the stuff iv rammed with burt tryin to get that. like when i had a go at a spawn camper who told me he was after the 'invinceable' and 'surviver' medals... its in the game so cant really have a go if all they are doing is trying to complete part of the game. as for the 20lber, i know its a pain but its there to get you ready for the monster dpm and rof of the fv215b. dont free xp and dont give up, just git gud and the next tank is soooo worth it. but if you struggle with high rof and soft hull combo you'll never drive it even tho it sidescrapes like a boss and can frontaly pen E3s at 300m+.... hang in there brother, you'll be in a good place soon enough. and good luck. |

I've almost unlocked the fv215b, but I'm enjoying the conqueror. Once you get that 120, the tank gets better. The grind though was a little rough. I'm really enjoying the conqueror and it will have a permanent home in my garage though I will have to grind out a new crew for it. I do play it like a second line heavy /sniper. It has good gun depression so poke ridge lines and go hull down whenever possible. If you are hull down over a ridge line it will be quite hard to hit your commanders hatch. And while I haven't always done great, the tank does perform well. It's usually me who does something stupid and get myself killed.

The Conqueror has paper for turret armour. I can't remember the exact thickness but I think the cheeks are around 170mm thick, so even with the angles anything with pen above 220mm will just cut through it, so even when hull down, roll back between shots. I see alot of conquerors sit hull down thinking they are safe when they aren't.

It is a great tank for engaging enemies that have their tirret turned away, but it is not my favorite tier 9.

The biggest problem I had with the conqueror grind to the 120mm was constant shitty teams. I wouldn't call the grind terrible but it certainly wasn't painless. The rof was good but not good enough to off set the low alpha; it was very difficult for me to break 3k damage. Most of my matches were low 2000's damage range. I played it just behind front line heavies, and would try to perma-track retards that tried to peak and hit them in the drive wheel. Assist damage from tracking targets is a good way to go about the grind, but I didn't figure this out until I was about 20k off of the 120.
