No problem...just tell her that you'll keep it in the garage. Don't have a garage yet. Well...you're never going to get a reloading bench with a lack of motivation like that mister!

Wife won't allow me to have a reloading bench in the house. I’ve seen setups small enough to fit on the upper shelf of a closest, out of sight when not in use Or you could go real miniature and find an old lee loader, those are handheld. Slow to use, but extremely compact and they do work It's not the space she worries about. She's afraid of it being a fire hazard.

I think a lot of it has to do with what calibers and what types of loads you’re planning on doing. It’s very possible to get by with 1lb of powder if you only plan on one type of load.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a house going up because of a reloading setup...I’ve got both smokeless and black powder and have never had any issues. If you’re house is already on fire you’ve got bigger things to worry about than a pound of powder sitting there, the stuff won’t just randomly spontaneously combust. I can’t imagine it’s any more likely to catch fire than any common, flammable household chemicals. Keep it away from anything that’s sparking, and any open flames and its fine Realistically if you’re just loading for pistol you won’t go through powder quickly unless you shoot a lot. 7,000 grains to a pound, and .45 acp would be about 5 grains of powder, depending on the powder and bullet and all that. So you’re looking at about 1,400 rounds on one pound of powder. You wouldn’t need to stockpile much powder for that. I’m SOL there, I load for rifle so I’m looking at 50+ grains of powder for one round sometime lol

2020's first acquisition, and not only is it "Wife Approved", it is "Wife Preferred"! (She wants to try her hand at local steel competition and fell hard for this as soon as she handled it.) I have to admit, I've been considering one of these ever since they came out, so when she said "You can buy one of these for me", there was zero hesitation. Very nice! So tell us, is it hers, or yours?

Very nice! So tell us, is it hers, or yours? I married a Scots-Irish Appalachian Redhead. What's her's is her's and what's mine is her's. Actually, this one is going to be shared for a while. We deliberately searched for a handgun that fits both of us. Sig did an amazing job on this one as it is not too big for her but not too small for me.

It's amazing how quickly plans can change. Last Friday, I was all set to buy one of CZ's top competition pistols, the Tactical Sport Orange. A bunch of them just arrived in the country and one of my local stores was taking delivery of 4 of them on Saturday. So we made plans to stop by the store on the way home from the range Saturday afternoon and add one to the collection. After a great range session we decided to stop and grab lunch before heading to the store. And that's when it happened. We received an email from GunBroker that completely changed the course of the day. As soon as I showed the listing to the Wife, she said "You've wanted one for decades, why don't you buy it?" So after a couple of phone calls to verify the details, that's exactly what I did. She wasn't kidding about wanting one for decades. I developed a severe case of "wants" in the late 1980's after seeing them used in competition. Then, in 1990, "The Movie" came out starring the gun, oh and some guys named Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman, and thousands of people placed orders pushing the wait time for a new one from months to 5+ years! And the prices for used versions went through the roof. So when this one popped-up as "like new", and $1000 under market value, I just couldn't say no. This is a Shiloh Sharps 1874 Long Range Express chambered in .45-70 with a 34" heavy octagon barrel and a long-range vernier tangent sight in the rear and a globe front. The original owner ordered it with upgraded wood and a steel buttplate. I've written Shiloh for the original production date and detail sheet, but estimates are that it was manufactured in either 1999 or 2000. According to the store owner, it weighs right at 14 lbs, so it should soak-up most of the recoil from the rounds. I'm hoping to take delivery in the next week and have it ready to break-in over the July 4th weekend.

Anyone heard of a Turkish gun manufacturer named Emperor?
I won one of their 20 gauge shotguns in a raffle but never heard of them.

I'm sure you'll enjoy shooting the .45-70 version. I have a Winchester 1886 (year 1893) chambered in .45-70 and it's great fun to shoot. Thanks for sharing.

Ruthless....I'm not familiar with them, but generally speaking the Turks are pretty well known for decent shotguns, and in some cases the artwork on the receivers is very good quality. I went on deployment to Eskisehir Turkey to fly missions in the Black Sea back during the Cold War (circa 88) and a bunch of us bought shotguns and brought them back to Spain. I only bought one, a double barrel 12ga break action with Damascus barrels and gold inlays on the receiver. I think I paid $125 for it which was a shit pot of money in Turkish Lira and my shipmates bought a total of about 20 shotguns. That gun shop owner was absolutely stoked. He was giving us free scabbards, ammo bandoleers, hats, soft gun cases, etc. I thought it was pretty well made and I have a couple nice shotguns (best being a Red Label in 20ga and oldest being a Winchester model 12 built in 1915). Long story short, I gave it to my brother as a gift and have no idea how much it's worth today, but I wish I would have bought a couple more.

Ugh
Still don’t have my shotgun I won
The weekend I won it, they thought they had it but didn’t ( delayed shipment )
So waited a week. Following Saturday ( last Saturday)they had it, filled out paperwork for back ground check. Delayed until this Thursday but can’t get there until Saturday 🤦🏻♂️.
So 3 trips so far.
I’m other news on Sunday another store had a gun in stock ( finally ) that we had been considering as my sons B-day gift. Go there fill out paperwork expecting a delay and I was approved to take it home.
But I’m still stuck waiting on my shotgun

How has everyone's success been in procuring ammo? It has been a struggle around here and finally was able to find 1000 rounds of 9mm that I ordered.
Of course it was Red Army surplus. Da comrade!
Thankfully I keep my stockpile pretty high. Only thing I am truly low on is .380.

I also shot less last year due to life, and once COVID hit, all IDPA and USPSA matches stopped, and our school cancelled all classes. Everything opened up or restarted about a 45 days ago, but I’m still not shooting as freely as I did.

Ammo has been difficult to come by. I'm almost out of .45. .223 I was able to buy a few boxes of last month.
