I prefer the RDB to the RFB. Better brass ejection system.

RFB kabooms aren't so bad apparently, for whatever reason. All things are relative, of course. There seems to be a consensus that, like with a standard-type rifle, any kaboom will blast the exhaust gases out the point of least resistance, the magazine. I don't know if this is specific to the RFB's design or bullpups in general, but it seems the upper receiver is usually solid steel which resists kabooming, protecting the face from all but magazine shrapnel.

So it just directs it down into your neck and chest area.... Gotcha.

DesertTech MDRIf, and it is a big if, I were to buy a bullpup .308, I'd have to sink the money into the MDR. DT is legendary for their quality and accuracy. My local gun-pusher has a few of the Keltec rifles in stock and, to be honest, I’m just not a fan. Not to mention the fact that they are not beard-safe! Even handling them in-store, I’ve managed to yank-out enough whiskers to bring tears to my eyes. I’ve been around far too many rifles that have “violently self-disassembled” for me to be comfortable having the chamber next to my face. I even have qualms about shooting bolt-action bullpups like my Father-in-law’s Barrett M95 or his DesertTech SRS. I know, and fully understand, all the arguments in favor of bullpups, but I’m just not “there” yet. Heck, it took me a full decade before I could bring myself to buy a Glock (now I own 9 of them), so I may eventually come-around. The Wife really wants an AUG, so we may have a bullpup join the collection in the next couple of years anyway.

I dunno, can't imagine magazine fragments are much more pleasant from 6-8 inches rather than 3-5. 6-8 inches into your forearm compared to literally pressed against the side of your face, where the 'blow out' is redirected into your throat about 2" away. No problem here. .300 Blackout that found it's way into a 5.56mm (.223 AR-15) - No injuries. Now put that next to your face instead of out over your forearm...

Isn't where the shooter's eye would have been actually still in the frame there?
And yeah, that's failed along the gap between upper and lower receiver, a gap that exists for maintenance/takedown, that is not part of the design of a covered receiver within a frame for a bullpup rifle.

No. You aren't getting the point. This failure occurred 3+ inches forward of the shooters nose. On a bullpup it would've happened against their cheek. A bullpup having this serious of a failure would direct that force downward and out - Which is where your neck and chest are. The upper receiver still blew out upon failure, which 'vented' the explosion instead of containing it and making the failure worse. A covered receiver within a frame = a mini pipe bomb.

WTF, Didn't you guys learn anything from my videos? All you need to safely shoot a bullpup is a DOT approved helmet, leather jacket and gloves. I picked up a few P-mags since Jester recommended them a while ago. They have been working perfect.

So, unrelated to anything else in this thread, but I figured it's a gun thread so hey, why not post it here. So I went shooting with my dad and brother today, nothing special, just our AR 15's, 30.06 Hunting Rifles and a few pistols. Well, while I was shooting my 1911 the bullet hit a rock and ricocheted. It flew backwards past all 3 of us and smashed the back window out of my dad's truck. I don't have a picture of what's left of the window, but we did find the bullet in the bed of the truck.

Wow Derailed. I shoot at a large sand pit about 15 minutes North of my house, or at the back of my property line which abuts state land...nothing back there, but thousands of acres of woods and bog. I've been fortunate to never have a ricochet like that.

We didn't even know it hit the truck until we went to leave. The wind was blowing pretty hard, and my brother and dad heard something hit the truck, but figured the wind had caught the shell casing as it wasn't that loud. When we were loading the guns into the back seat we noticed broken glass and saw the broken window. The bullet hit about halfway up the window and right along the drivers side edge about an inch in from the body. It broke the whole center of the window out. Luckily it bounced off the window into the bed, and didn't continue through into another window or airbag, or worse, hit one of us when it ricocheted back.
Good news is that it's completely covered by insurance, and with no deductible to pay.

Kel techs are crap, in general. 2. Unrelated, was sorry to hear about the ricochet. Wild story. Make more sense now?

Good news is that it's completely covered by insurance, and with no deductible to pay. Damn. Well at least it didn't hit anyone. I'd imagine it was a factory load given the FMJ and it bled off a lot of the velocity when it bounced back so it may not have gone into the dash, but probably would have broken the front window. Would've probably hurt someone if it would've hit someone too.
