I've researched the high tier Japanese mediums quite a bit, and it sounds like the gun handling is the weak point. If it were my rig, I'd probably run vents.

If you have multiple crew skills Vents. Otherwise Optics so you can stay back as far as you can and still get spots and see things to shoot.
