I posted this in the other forum but I'm also going to post it here. I think it will be interesting to see the different answers we may get between the two sites.
We have some excellent players on here and it got me to wondering. When did you and World of Tanks click? Did you just log in the first time and do well? Personally I found that I really got good at the game when I started playing artillery... Just kidding. I actually felt like I really started to improve when I started playing higher tier lights. Before that I was just bad. I thought that getting the next tank in the tech tree would make me better so that was my end goal. Needless to say it just got worse. After visiting the forum I decided to drop back down into lower tiers to relearn my game. Then I rediscovered the Old Chaffee. The old Chaffee taught me a lot and my stats in that tank reflect it. I made a lot of dumb mistakes in that tank (but man I miss it. The T37 just isn't the same thing). Playing a tier V or VI tank in a tier X match is a steep learning curve. I took what I learned in the old Chaffee and applied it to the newer lights and have since rebranched off into other types again. Before that I was just bad. Now I am average and moving towards decent.
So when did you and World of Tanks click?

Same answer as the other thread but this time I get to say "shit" without it being censored.
I was watching youtube vids of WoT PC long before the xbox version came out but never played it due to having a shitty-shitty-shit-shit computer that as stinky and full of shit. So when the game came to xbox and I got into the beta I already knew all the mechanics for the most part, just had to get used to the controls which didn't take too long at all.

While I still have all kinds of moments that make me wonder if I'm clinically 'tarded, the moment I started to improve can be traced to one game.
It was Dec. 1, 2014 (which I only remember because I posted a screenshot on our clan's Book of Face page), Erlenberg assault, tier VII game in my T21, we were attacking and I was playing solo.
It was before they put in the water crossings, and also before the square map (I had just started to check the big map over and over again during a battle thanks to JoeDaFrogman, who gave me some pointers).
I started out on the north side spotting when a check of the map showed that the reds were pushing the southern edge. So I flew down that way, took out a T29 and got a ton of spotting damage as we took out the reds. Went back north when the reds made a push, and we took them out. This continued for a few minutes, with me bouncing between the north and south while my heavies and TDs did ... nothing but camp.
With less than a minute and a half left, someone got on the mic and was all "Are we going to actually attack them, or just lose this?" So I said (literally, over the mic) "Fuck that shit, it's LEEEROOOOOY JEEEEENNNNKIINNNNNSSS time!" and just went right over the north bridge. Took out a low-health VK36, got bum rushed by a 12t that got rekt by the Jumbo who finally decided to move forward, then started to take out a Pizzle Sniffle when he backed into the water (the Jumbo went after him and squished him for the kill). We finished off the last tank, an AT-8, with literally 5 seconds left.
Results: 2100 spotting, 2200 damage, four kills.
Why I remember that game is because ... well, ya know how athletes talk about how the game "slows down" for them and it's like they know what will happen before it does? That's how that game was for me -- I just knew what the reds would do and how to counter it. I read my map and responded accordingly.
And I fell in love with mobile tanks that can flex around the battlefield, vs. the slow-ass, heavily-armored tanks I had preferred up to that point. I have since focused on faster tanks that can move around when needed, and the results are pretty damn clear: my WN8 at the time was less than 800, I had a 48% win rate, and a 1.1 k/d. I'm now at 1467 (and it goes up 2-5 points ever time I play), 56%, and a 1.78.
So, yeah -- credit to that game for making me a better player and, thus, better green teammate.

Pretty much immediately.
I tried it out when a friend suggested and found it was more enjoyable than the twitch shooters.
I'm having more fun now that I don't really care about stats as much as I did early on. I'd rather just have fun with a platoon and whatever happens, happens.

I can t remember exactly when but i believe it was around 7ooo games played and I wondered if youtube had any videos on WOT. I dont think i even started using consumables until a few thousand matches into the game. I got to that point of any anger issue where I knew I needed help.

When I finally realized "live longer = shoot more = more damage = more wins." Which was around the time I started playing mediums in ernest over the heavies. But I'm still far, far from "there" yet.

About the time I got the T82 it sort of clicked. Then it really clicked when I Got the M24 the the Bulldog as far as Mobile Tanks. i Pretty much clicked right away with the T67 and M18.

When I started playing with good players really. Pretty much this. I'm still not at the level where I'd say WoT has "clicked" for me, but I am finding that I'm having an easier time doing well, and my stats have vastly improved.

Just be careful of people like that bird guy. He sucks dick like it's his job. Stats probably paid for anyway.
