I am finding my Beaufighter Mk. X difficult to do well in in RB. Send halp. I might give it a try tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Maybe try to go exclusively for bombers. I think single engine fighter will always tear you a new one in that thing unless you get the jump on someone who isn't paying attention. Also stealth round on the hispanos are perfection. |

Ah, me too. One can only handle being outturned, gunned and run by Yaks for so long I'm afraid. I just play the Yak-7B in AB now. It's great fun until you get head on rammed by someone or pilot-sniped by a stray bullet from a friendly. I can rack up like five kills before I get killed in some stupid way, usually involving friendly fire, aircraft collision or chronic airframe failure.

I'll give it a go. The issue I have is that I'm too slow, and there is always a horde of stupid Russians chasing after that one He 111. Seriously, there's about eight Spitfires at 12,000 feet, a He 111 scuttles over the lines at 2000 feet, and four of the Spits immediately break off and dive down 10,000 feet to kill it. They usually crash afterwards too. |

That's incredible On the topic of RB I feel I'm missing out a lot due to my limited knowledge of planes and how they work, I'm not an idiot when it comes to them, but I am nowhere near being proficient at them. |

I'm alright, but I feel the one single thing that caps me is my hopelessness at air gunnery. I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn using grape shot from the inside. My kills are composed almost exclusively of head on passes, stalling aircraft and bombers.

I think the particular model of Zero was with my Russian Airacobra and won, with a few quick 50 cal bursts. Gunnery is something that is difficult to nail down due to the different behaviours of guns, I mean your Ho-5 30mms are nothing like your German Mk-108's for example. |

I'm mostly limited to British .303s and 20mm Hispanos. Which aren't too bad in the accuracy department, but if you score two or three hits, it'll do fuck all.

I find for RB in fighters that putting you gun distance to like 300m or less even and just getting bursts at as close range as you can works a treat. Bare this pic in mind though, it's relevant to most brit aircraft  |

I had probably better change my convergence. I have it set to 700m, because I like to open fire early, but I usually end up a bit closer than that, about 300.

Yeah, I don't think it really matter so much with the Beaufighter as the 20mms are in the nose so even with 300m convergence you'll be able to snipe people. I only really play single engine fighter in RB though and flying the Ki-61 with 300m convergence tends to work well enough for me. Might experiment with some shorter convergences though. |
