As the title says, the discord used for WOT Tournaments that has also been there for much longer than the "official" WoT Discord is being locked down and made read-only (apart from the Japanese section apparently), supposedly in an effort to merge all channels there under "one roof". WG are saying that they plan to use that server later down the line for official tournaments.
I must say, I find it funny that this is following the exact same pattern that the forums did. It was announced less than a week ago that T33 would be the new person overseeing that discord and the people there were told their discord wasn't being shut down and how amazing they are as a community, and already they're being told that they'll need to move on to the official WoT Discord since channels are going to be locked there.

Pretty much all remnants of the WoT Console of Old are being shut down and eliminated. Pretty sad to see, honestly. The community is still continuing to collapse and shrink despite everything that the Devs have done since 6.0 to keep the sinking ship afloat. At this point, is there anything they can realistically do to keep the game from going under completely? Because with every departure within the company and every "consolidation" of community feedback channels, it's becoming more obvious that the company is losing the revenue necessary to operate such resources. I fear that the total end of WoT Console may be coming sooner than a lot of us are expecting...
I (optimistically) gave this game at least another 3-4 years in the months following 6.0, but at this rate it feels like the game may not even last beyond 2023.

Hypothesis; probably because they're critical of the game in it's current state?

They don't like negative feedback. The old salts saw all the crap they pulled over the years, and called them out over it. There's a large portion of us that just wanted better balance, more maps, and upgrades to the engine as technology improved. They decided there was no money in that. So they decided that we're just irrationally negative about all the other stuff they do outside of the things we wanted.
It was interesting to me the heat map plot I saw the other day on the player tracking twitter account shows the largest amount of games played on both systems was from those that were in beta testing or started right around launch.

You mean to say that after all WG have "accomplished" they haven't attracted many newer players? I am shocked!

I'd love to see the number of new accounts/players that have joined between Update 6.0 and now vs. between 2016 and early 2020.
