Not from the game, oh no, from the official forum. All the constant whining and " the game is doomed" or " I quit forever goodbye cruel world" threads really grate on me these days.
Its difficult to find a threat with any legitimately useful information without seeing it completely degenerate into tearful ranting, most of which has no basis in fact and is riddled with hyperbole.
I get people are upset, but much like the anti-CV threads, very few of them are well constructed arguments. Just emotional ranting and personal insults. The constant stream of sniveling does nothing to persuade me to their cause. It only desensitizes people to whatever their initial cause. These threads remind me of the screaming child in the department store who was just told they couldn't have a toy.
Like I said, I dont necessarily disagree with all they post, but it really puts me off of the points they are trying to make when its near constant emotionally charged exaggerations.
So, having said that, whats one positive thing thats happened to you this past week? I bought a nice little Briggs and Stratton snowblower from the store here and I've been very happy with it. Its snowed quite a bit up north here, so it's paid dividends already not breaking my back shovelling daily !

I agree. They just seem to think that if they whine enough WG will change it.
I remeber someone dreaming up a 21pt captain about a year ago. They didn't mention a skill rework but just wanted a 21pt captain. I hated the idea when I saw it but it ended up happening.
Personally I don't see a huge difference from a 21point captain to a 19 point captain. One gets Ecxp the other doesn't. The 2 extra points don't make a huge difference skill wise either. I ended up moving my Gearing captain to my Lex and even with all 21 points it's not a total game changer. I just feel I will end up playing more CV than before, and I do better in it than I did in my Gearing.
What I think is really funny is I saw a thread where "21 ponts isn't enough, I want more". That guy needs to quit. They think 21 is grindy, try 30 (he actually wanted 10 more points). Sometimes I wanna call them out for being a bunch of bitchy whiny ass babies and tell them to get over it.
I know I was offended by the idea at first but since I got to try it out I actually like it more now. They also gave everyone plenty of time to play with it and get it adjusted how they want it. I still haven't spent all the dubs they gave me and the dubs you earned was easy too.

Overall, the rework could have been handled better. But, the captain skill meta was literally dead stale. Every competitive BB ran the same survival build. A few ran fun secondary builds. Nothing else was viable. Cls ran IFHE builds. Etc etc. One build per type of ship, almost exclusively. It needed a change. And with exception to a few skills, I like it.
Deadeye can gtfo, though. And some of the downsides to a few skills need softened in order to make them viable.

Free respecs and equipment demounting for basically a month? That really allows you to test out what works and doesn't, figure out good combinations and if you don't like it, there is zero cost to try something out.
I have no doubt that this is the first phase, the initial rollout. WG is guaranteed going to tweak a few things before this rework is finalized, but I am happy overall with the idea behind the rework.
People are pissed because there's no guide to tell them " take this skill, this skill, this skill to fully optimize your build" they have to figure them out themselves and even then, there are many valid choices depending on what ppaystyle you want for a ship.
I think its funny that sooo much of the hate right now is against the automated system of secondary builds, which they believe is worse. I played a lot of brawling BB's before the rework and none of them relied on secondaries as their primary means of damage. It was supplemental at best, and fun at worst. Certainly not competative. I honestly havent noticed much of a change at all in my german BB's, whose line I just Reset in the RB. I'm up to the Bismarck and it still seems as powerful, if not more, than it was before.
I run Deadeye on VERY few of my ships, and I have a LOT of BB's. Its just not worth the investment to me in about 95% of the cases. Roma benefits greatly, as does Monarch. The new American BB's. Because the increase is percentage based, it benefits ships with larger dispersion areas the most, but concealment is a major factor in its effectiveness. I find it much too situational and it contrasts my main goal in my BB's.
Close the range, try to get within ~10-16 km's and you will hit MUCH more reliably than you ever will with deadeye at 20+km's.
