Looks like she's roughly a Lightning minus a torp rack and smoke, but she gets radar and a heal. The torps are the Swedish meatballs, so fast and a quick reload, but low damage. The guns have similar ballistics to the Blyska; much better than the RN/USN floaty shells, not quite as good as Russian railguns. 5.9 km minimum concealment isn't bad, either. The lack of smoke is concerning, but having both radar and a heal is very intriguing. She looks purpose built for DD hunting, which is exactly what I love to do.
I was planning on saving up for Cossack as my next premium purchase, but now I'm kind of liking how Orkan looks. Best part is I'm fairly certain that Blyska and Orkan can share the same captain build.

Welp. This is not a ship that can carry a bad team. She's best as part of a Wolfpack. Akizuki, Benson, Lo Yang are good. Lo Yang especially, with the long lasting USN smoke and hydro.
The guns are great. 4.something second reload is a bit slow, but they hit hard and the shells travel fast. 360 turrets make life a lot easier. Short base range of just under 11 km.
12.5 km torps that travel 80 knots are hilarious, even if they only do 9k damage. I've gotten more torp hits with this ship per game than any other DD I've played. 1 torp rack means she isn't a torpedo bote, though.
Without smoke or workable AA, she is helpless against CVs. A Graf Zep made my life utterly miserable by making it his mission to keep me spotted. Orkan has trouble shooting down fighters, let alone attack planes.
I stuck my 15 point Friesland captain in, which isn't an ideal build but still workable. The ship came with a personal mission that gives you +200% xp for the first 25 battles, so I'm using that to boost Friesland's captain up as far as I can. Once I've completed the Jerzi campaign, I'll stick him in Orkan. By that time, my Friesland captain might be up to 19 points.
This ship, more than any other I've played, is utterly reliant on having a team with actual working brain cells. If your team is full of retards, you're gonna have a bad time. That being said, it is incredibly fun sneaking up DDs hiding in smoke, hitting the radar, and watching them panic. This will be a hard ship to master, but I think it will be very rewarding once I do.

I get something almost as fast with the shima but only like 8km range.

Some people have, but the torps also have half the alpha of IJN torps. Hitting a BB on the torpedo belt only does 6k damage. Orkan also only has a single launcher. |
