Yeah, this event just killed my desire to play warships for a while. Been replaying Morrowind instead.

I actually pulled the Xbox out of storage and fired-up Elite: Dangerous. Sadly, somehow all my files seem to have disappeared off the server so I’m starting from scratch, but I’m certainly enjoying it again.

It's a bummer you have to start from scratch, glad you're enjoying it though! I've been enjoying Age of Empires 2 HD. Today I taught my self how to share a map I made on steam! I had no idea how to make a "file folder structure" until today. Felt like I was doing fancy stuff!

What flightstick do you use on the XBOX or do you somehow make do with the XBOX controller? I blew the dust of my old 20 something year old, game port native, MS sidewinder precision pro when the game came out on PC a couple of years back. When I bought the thing(flight stick), it was bundled with MechWarrior 2 and came with a little usb adaptor since USB was starting to emerge. Who'd have thought it still had value 23 years later.

I’m making do with the Xbox controller. As much as I’d enjoy a flight stick, I’m not certain that I’d make too much use of it and the Wife has a thing about “clutter” in the living room. (Apparently her RockBand drums don’t count as clutter. )

I had that flight stick, brings back memories of Combat Flight Simulator 1&2. I loved those MS combat flight sims since they allowed for very detailed realism adjustments and also CFS3. The missions became a bit repetitive. Which I think was windows based. The Sidewinder precision pro is such a comfy stick with a heavy base and useful button layout including a fairly unique rotary throttle slider. The base on the inside has the MS project teams signatures moulded into it too which is kinda cool albeit a bit geeky. When it came to Joysticks and driving wheels, MS were best in class during the mid to late 90s. Especially wheels. I was sad when they stopped making stuff in 2003. No market they said, everything's kb/mouse driven they claimed. I had an X35(I think) HOTAS setup too, RS232/9 pin serial and gameport made by Saitek. It was a bit cumbersome, software was painful. I only ever used a few times and it may have been for F16 Falcon. I tried getting it working again on a windows system without a game port well after gameports were lost since it was a quality piece of tech but it never worked properly. Not sure if it was age or my shoddy attempt at adapting it or just windows seeing the axis as weird but probably all 3. The Sidewinder precision pro though keeps going and going. The other thing I used it for was Freespace ,Freespace 2, MechWarrior 3 and 4 as well as Xwing Vs Tie Fighter and various derivatives. Possibly played some Wing Commander too. Frustratingly, I haven't had any success getting the multi axis to work properly in DOSBox with most of those titles. That being X,Y and Z and throttle. MechWarrior 4 and Mercanaries was ok - it's windows based. I might need to go and download Elite Dangerous on PC again now...ahh the memories!

(Apparently her RockBand drums don’t count as clutter. ) My wife has this thing about clutter too. If there is any she tends to put things away in plastic storage crates with other things which looks similar but never knows what it is she's putting away or where she put it, usually cables, dongles, power supplies, USB sticks, portable storage, network appliances, video or audio connectors and various electronics and adaptors too. Naturally, the cables, dongles and power supplies land in different places to the things they are paired with and I will ask "hey dear have you seen the "XXXXX" which was sitting here?" She typically asks me to tell her what that is and what it looks like which is a bit futile since one cable or adaptor or computer bit looks quite similar to most others. With that said I've gotten away with having a VR headset attached to the PS4 for a while, my controller charge stations on one of the rear speakers and the few headsets I keep near those. I've built sort of a hutch to house the consoles which sits on top of an older cabinet and the VR headset sort of sits out of the way. I probably should grab Elite Dangerous when it's on sale next and try it out. I have no idea how you manage to fly using a gamepad but I guess one might get used to it and as far as I know there are no natively wireless flight stick options.

I tried decluttering some of the stuff around the bathroom vanity cabinet one day after she complained it was too small. Admittedly, I threw a bunch of stuff away. WTF she had planned on doing with 100s of different types of bath bombs, body creams and smelly soaps is beyond me but that stuff was not being used, was taking up way too much space and was multiplying every year so it had to go. I solved the space problem and she was dark at me for weeks after.
