Should I run double repair kit or food?
STB-1:
Should I run fire extinguisher or food?
Id like to maximize the dpm on this tank unless its fire prone

Regarding STB-1
I honestly can't remember it being particularly fire prone. That being said, I don't have a terrible amount of games in it, if I play it today I'll be sure to take note.

I can't speak to the Waffle, but I do own the STB-1 and consider myself merely decent (72% MoE right now). I used to run it with the AFE when I didn't have much silver built up and on occasion I still do run the AFE about 75% of the time when I'm using it in between battles of tanks I'm focusing on. It doesn't catch on fire too easily in my experience (322 battles), so if you don't mind the 20k in silver I'd suggest food.
The food essentially transforms the performance of the gun handling regarding aim time and accuracy, not to mention the RoF you're after. There is also a noticeable improvement in traverse, although I think it's already sufficient.

So I am really considering going that route. In tier 10, I feel like if I would catch fire, I'm probably going to die anyways, so for those rare situations it is what it is. But at least the food should help overall game play of the tank. It's an absolute joy to play, but I swear that damn cannon suffers from multiple personality disorder. I had these games the last few days and then had a game last night on Westfield (a map I really enjoy with the STB-1) where I did about 1600dmg and missed about 15 shots from within 100-150 meters. I'm usually pretty mellow win or lose, but I was steaming after the game on Mali!!!

My most played tank is the batchat which appears to have very similar gun handling to the STB-1 so I think food would probably be a good choice. Im thinking, rammer, vents, vstab, food, bia to try and really get that dpm out and improve gun handling.

I have my STB-1 setup with V Stabs, Rammer and Optics. I may try Vents out to see if it help the gun handling any. As it has already been pointed out, the gun will periodically troll the crap out of you. I have small fire extinguisher, repair kit and first aid kit, but I am thinking about running a large repair kit with a small repair kit. With all the TD's you see at tier X, it seems as though I get racked on a regular basis. I have run Onigiri some but I didn't feel as though it helped enough to warrant 20K in silver each game. Ammo loadout is 8 premium rounds and 2 HE for cap resets and the balance is standard APCR.
It is my favorite tier X medium

I run food and AFE on the waffle, Spall liner+Pain tolerance makes crew deaths non existent and with armorer I don't care if my gun gets damaged.
STB-1 Use food.

I run chocolate a large first aid kit and large repair kit on the waffle. No one shoots your hull in the waffle so catching fire is the least of your worries in it.

  I got to 93% on my STB before map rotation started killing me off, taking a break from it just now. As long as you are aware enough to never be caught in the ass then fires just don't happen ( Outside arty + Hesh). I used food as it made the Imperfect gun that little bit closer to perfect, seems to have worked to 93% |

I run firefighting on my batchat but thats because most fires are from the frontal fuel tanks. |

Owl...I can count on two hands the number of times my STB-1 has caught fire in 364 battles. I think that most of them were from arty hitting the engine deck (seems like the bat chat arty the most) and possibly two others from showing the ass of my tank.

Preventative Maintenance first, it doesn't catch fire often. Only from arty shells and when giving big TDs the perfect shot.
