I figured we could have a thread where everyone talks about their personal favorite game/games of the year. I played a few new games, and 2019 feels way longer looking back than it did going by. There's tons that came out this year to talk about.
If you want to reference a list: 2019 in Video Gaming
Personal Top 3 Games of the Year:
1. Fire Emblem Three Houses
2. Pokemon Sword/Shield
3. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Three Houses is most likely my most played game this year, despite only coming out in late July.
Over 190 hours and 2½ playthroughs, I plan on at least finishing 4 total full playthroughs in the near future.
The new Pokemon games are really fun, and I've already put substantial time into both games having bought the combo pack. I plan on continuing to play them in my free time.
I known Iceborne is technically a DLC for MHW, but it added just as much content as the base game had, and is essentially MHW 2. If you played and enjoyed the base game of MHW, then you should absolutely buy this expansion. The base game is already free on games Pass if you have it, so it wouldn't be too hard to jump in.
Hell, I'd ferry you through the all the early game stuff to get to the content that actually mattered if you wanted.
Honorable mention to The Outer Worlds, because it tells a great story and has really well written characters, but the fact that there's literally nothing to do once you complete the games fairly limited number of quests, and there is no postgame whatsoever, kept it off my list.
Personal Top 3 Game Soundtracks:
1. Fire Emblem Three Houses
2. Ace Combat 7
3. Pokemon Sword/Shield
AC7 would take the top spot if Three Houses didn't have so much music I love. It's a close second, but when you're going against songs like Apex Of The World (Rain), and The Edge Of Dawn, you can't really compete. Sword/Shield have some absolutely fantastic music, specifically the Gym Leader Theme, and Marnie's Finals Theme are great, but a lot of tracks are pretty standard fare, so it can't take the top spot.
