Just in time for the weather to turn shitty. 2017 Jayco. Was hit by a deer, so the insurance company totaled it out and auctioned it off. Got it for $4600 after all the fees. Damage is almost entirely cosmetic, though I'll have to check the water tank to make sure it's okay.

Winterized it last night, and checked the water tank where the deer hit. Tank is perfectly fine, so the damage is entirely cosmetic. All I have to do now is beat out the dent, and seal the seam up with some caulking. And then the wait until warmer weather begins.

Nice score Kaito and it looks like the first thing you did was chock the wheels after exiting the vehicle and taking the photo. Less than 5 grand for a relatively new "trailer" sounds like a bargain. We call those things caravan's - not sure why. Jayco's well known and probably the biggest brand in Australia although the models and ranges are a tad different. After fixing the cosmetic damage, what would the resale value on something like that be? I'd imagine at least $10,000USD. I thought I found a really cheap one too, listed at only $1234, sleeps 6. Photos show it clean. www.caravancampingsales.com.au/items/details/2017-jayco-expanda-outback/SSE-AD-6488902/?Cr=0I was trying to work out what was wrong with it and I almost missed the obvious in the description. Again, good score - I hope it serves you and the family well. On another note but relating to camping in general. Do you know what they call swags in the USA? They may not have them but that's what I tend to use when I need to sleep in country for work purposes. So much easier than pitching a tent although I have a modern one which is sort of like a single person low profile tent with built in mattress anyway. A Swag is sort of a self contained bedroll/tent thing which sleeps one and sometimes two. opening is at the top, fly net and canvas roof which can be zipped closed to keep the flies out but so convenient. Perfect for sleeping under the stars.

Perfect for sleeping under the stars. The salvage title really hurts the resell value. I might get $5-6k for it if I sold it now. I plan on keeping it for 10 years or so, so the resell value doesn't bother me. I didn't really fix the dent, I just pushed the seem together and caulked the shit out of it. I'm not too worried about how it looks on the outside. I've never heard of Swags, and haven't seen anything like them, but I also haven't looked at tents too closely.
