Ooh haven't done of these in a very long time and this'll probably be the last ever 'Tank Review' kinda malarkey I do unless WGCB decide to cater to Joco's wishes and let him torment 'Gift' me a VK.65.
Probably try to base most of this off of my Warlord Panther one back in the day(goodtankbtw) and hey I can be cut some slack that was over a year ago.
Thus, the Panzer de la Third of the K Series, or Pz III K if you want to act like a peasant and shorten it, one of I believe 5 Tier V, German Medium Premiums. Like really nobody is wanting to know about it because the Pz V/IV exists and does everything better, the Pz IV Hydro exists that gets PMM because 'reasons' and then the GuP that is just, there. It's for us Weebs to be happy about even though it's a Pz IV H reskin and thus as terrible as what it's a reskin of. Oh and the T 25 which is so forgettable I had to add it to the list halfway through writing this.
But we're doing it anyway! Because I went and booted up the game just to 3 Mark the darn thing before Joco3000 could gift it. It cost me 20p.
4/10 by IGN, needs less water but I'm not reinstalling the game just for a better screenshot.
Performance ;
How on earth does this tank handle, shockingly I don't know if it's just by virtue of not playing the game in forever but it was actually a tad more fun than one might expect of likely the worst of the V Premiums you can buy for Jolly ol' Jerry.
The play style of the tank isn't unique to anyone who owns a T-1E6X1, you load up 75 of the actual useful ammo and forget the A Button exists because we're civilised folk it is nice to be able to pen tanks at your own tier without rolling lower than 100mm of pen at TIER V on a Non-Derp. Maybe some don't like that but I'm sure they'd also love the idea of me shooting into the side of the tank they've got the attention of and losing too much pen to do damage. It only annoys them when I'm shooting them otherwise they absolutely are fine with the APCR Spam because it means a team mate is actually useful.
With absolutely no armour to speak of, it's a Pz III from Tier IV's hull that now faces VII's what do you expect, it relies on the HP at 600 if you ever find yourself having to trade with anything even from your own Tier, or Tier IV because again dat hull is from there they'll easily pen it. And you WILL have to trade because eyy .35 dispersion lads, y'know the KV-2 with its hulking 152mm 'balanced' by bad dispersion and accuracy, yeah it gets .27 on the move.
This tank will literally bloom worse on the move and after every shot than a KV-2 that can damn near one-hit VIII's, with the L/43 that tries to fight desperately for worst gun in the game with the L/48.
Oh and also enjoy the fact that it has Modules that are attempting to pretend they are Chinese to migrate to the country, I went toe to toe with a Pz III/IV in one match, in two shots he had damaged 5 of my modules and that was without HE which may as well have made my crew act French and put up the white flag.
This is the part that confuses me the most though, this vehicle caps out at 40km/h, on GOOD terrain, I could even be driving downhill and I wouldn't even hit 41km/h unless I happened to throw this thing off a cliff to hit that mythical number. Why? Because 300hp engine brudda. Wanna know what the Pz III J at Tier IV gets? 440hp engine. In fact I had to try to find anything with a same engine power and the only one I could find was a stock VK.20.01(D) that people even forget exists like I did the Pz T 25.
The single redeeming factor that this tank has is camouflage and I'm sure part of that had to do with my Crew but there was even an absurd moment where I outspotted a T71 DA, and was able to keep driving as he drove in my direction until I reached a bush to sit in and call home so that I didn't get yolo'd by the entire enemy team not knowing what my tank was and wanting to kill it.
This would be great if the tank didn't have a mediocre 350m view range, or that speed limit because it doesn't mean you can spot you'd probably get beaten to a place to spot by one of my granddads rather it just means you can potentially at least sit there with enough time to aim in, and fire 4 shots to pen one and the enemy while they can't see you knows your exact location because you had to fire 4 shots to even penetrate their side, who doesn't like losing a game because your gun stopped penetrating the flat side of a T29.
Yes all of that makes it sound really negative, it is, I again really don't know how I enjoyed this tank for the short time spent in it, much to Joco4000's Chagrin I'm sure.
Is it worth it?
Short answer, no, even if it only costs you 20p like mine did. Unless your name is Joco5000 in which case, yes because he likes watching people in pain.
Long answer, well first up look up for the long answer and if that didn't do you, if you have 20p to spare and you have the decision of buying this tank for that price or purchasing a sour gobstopper that you've been mentally preparing yourself to at least give a lick once in your entire life, go for the gobstopper.
There really is nothing that makes this tank stand out on its own like a vastly superior V/IV that you can probably get for almost, if not as cheap when WG loves to put it on sale. The only reason to do so is if you enjoy the look of it which tbf it is a dashing looking vehicle but in that case I would harken you go find a picture of a Pz III on Google Images and just stare at that instead, or a gif if you want the moving parts.
The tank excels at nothing except maybe sitting in a bush pretending your name is that of a certain Forumer who thinks the best position for a top tier Tiger 131 is trying to break out of the map barrier like we did back in the day for funsies on Halo 2. And even then I really can't suggest it because you'll never fire your gun once, you'll be firing it multiple times just trying to hit the stationary barn you're aiming at and by the point you do well...
On a short shtick at the end of it all, this tank IS better than the M4 Improved that Joco6000 also made me suffer through to 3 Marks. And I do truly feel that with a few changes it could actually be almost considered a Premium III/IV.
First and this isn't even particular to the III K but rather all tanks like it such as the M4 Improved and all those 75mm Clones at Tier V, stop bloody making it so that tanks that have bad penetration guns likely because they are simply taking guns from a Tier IV and putting them on a V also have worse gun handling/accuracy sometimes even than their predecessors at Tier IV.
It's insane, it makes literally no sense that my gun is in every possible way worse than the likes of the 7.5cm L/48 and THEN also gets .35 dispersion to boot, if a tank has bad penetration then it should have better gun handling to mitigate that bad penetration.
And now a part specifically for the III K, if this tank were to simply be given the 440hp engine that the tank its hull is from at Tier IV has, it would all of a sudden be a feasible Tier V to play, at its current state with a 300hp engine the tank is pathetic and I don't give a toss if that was made like that because of 'Historical Accuracy', which is stupid and before I salt all the Eisenhowers and Pattons out there.
Historical Accuracy is fine up until it comes down to Tank Balancing, I like it when my tank is as historically accurate visually and all as much as the next guy but when it comes to my Panzer III facing IS's and T29's while we all have HP Bars and whatnot I think it goes out the window that my poorly armoured Medium is gimped to 40km/h so as to be 'Historical'.
I get that WGCB loves to pretend like they are different from PC and then copy exactly from PC and just act like they made the files themselves like the Polish line but hey, when PC decided to not have tanks with PMM anymore the reason behind that was due to MM Changes that WoTC does not have, and so there is no reason why the Pz III K should still not have PMM, however shockingly allowing this tank to not be slower than my granddad would make it feasibly able to be useful against Tier VII's if for some reason they are too scared it would otherwise be too powerful never seeing them.
Oh except for this one Black Prince driver who drove his entire side to me, pretended I didn't exist because he didn't even know the armour of his own tank and my penetration values, and thinks I'm a cheater because he thinks his Black Prince has 132mm of Side Armour, not the 95mm it actually has.
I'm still hoping he gets around to posting the thread I recommended about it, he also wanted me to 1v1 him a Pz III K vs a Black Prince for 1000 Euros.
Tl;dr.
Joco7000 wanted to buy me among others a Pz III K for suffering and I got it early when it was 20p so I could 3 Mark it and not have to keep the game installed on the Console anymore, but much to Joco8000's despair it was actually somewhat enjoyable despite still being a perfect example of a Premium being useless based on 'Historical Accuracy' and WG's Continuing Fetish of 'Bad Guns should have Bad Handling/Accuracy'.
Probably try to base most of this off of my Warlord Panther one back in the day(goodtankbtw) and hey I can be cut some slack that was over a year ago.
