Fucking crazy. I mean, it’s not like they didn’t say they were going to do it, or hadn’t tried it earlier in the week. Only having three Royal Navy ships in the region is not going to cut it. No it won't and only reason Iran did it was because they think they can get away with it. I'm sure a payment for release will be negotiated until next time. The Royal Navy is still pretty capable, although not what they once were a decade ago. IMO, a country just can't go around seizing another country's flagged merchant vessels in international waters (the tanker in Gibraltar was stopped at the request of the EU for delivering oil to Syria against the embargo). The last time the Iranians did this to US flagged tankers in 87-88 we ended up with Operation Earnest Will, Prime Chance, Nimble Archer and Praying Mantis which pretty much put an end to firing on oil tankers and mining the Persian Gulf.
I think anything that threatened to put Iran's limited Navy vessels to the bottom as artificial reefs would get them to come to heel.

They've been doing it for decades already. Who cares...we'll just give them more blankets with measles to solve the issue ( this is sarcasm) I always thought if was good to get measles, wait that could be chicken pocks. 😬 I dont really care about Politics as their all wankers in it for themselves it's just complete Thunderc**ts I can't stand. Well I say I dont care, I'd do pretty much anything to stop Corbyn becoming Prime Minister and trashing the Country. I can't say I disagree with you regarding most politicians being dillrods. I Personally wouldn't drink a beer with Trump, but IMO he was a better choice then Clinton. Corbyn scares me like a couple of the moonbats running for the Democratic nomination here in the US. I did think it was rich this week when Corbyn tried to lecture Trump given his history of anti-Semitism.

It's not the Royal Navy or the men and women who serve, more about Britains leadership( no offense to the Brits here) as I do with most " western " nations in dealing with these issues.

I'm leaning towards this being a Russian encouraged act by Iran. Russia has large fossil fuel resources, so can weather any problems quite well.
It also potentially pushes the UK back towards the USA again (Iran has always been a shared problem with the UK and usa), which weakens the EU more.

Be careful, I hear wind turbines give you cancer 😐 Oh, you be triggered, alright. No arguing that point. Wind turbines? That doesn’t even make any sense. But I’ll humor you. I live in a free state with nuclear and coal power generation. Nuclear power is the bestest power. Now, if you’ll pardon me, I just got home from a full day on the range, teaching some responsibly-armed American citizens the fundamentals of marksmanship. I have to go eat my steak I made on the grill, which I’ll be cutting with a real steak knife.

Enjoy your steak which you'll cut with a real knife (no idea where this has come from). From your last two sentences it seems like you're becoming triggered. For future reference to prevent weak attempts to "trigger" me. (I'm an ex Royal Navy Submariner so I love nuclear power, and my family used to run a slaughterhouse so I love steak)

Unfortunately (and this is just my opinion) we've had decades of a corrupt EU working behind the scenes to get all EU Countries in such a weak position that a single state EU looks like the best option. Which is why most of the EU Countries have weak (compared to before) military's. We are still a capable Nation to defend ourselves, hell just one of our 45 destroyers can take down the entire Argentinian air force before they reach cruising altitude. Weve now started rebuilding our fleet with two large carriers, the new 26 frigates and the new Successor class bombers (nuclear armed subs), just need the crew now 😬

So many citizens look only at a nation's military as a place where a huge portion of the budget goes without thinking about those expenditures in the context of geopolitics and how that military protects vital national interests outside of it's borders, e.g. the possible inability to police and protect UK flagged shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
I flew in the Navy from Reagan's buildup to confront the USSR in the 80s until Clinton's utter hollowing out of the military. That massive wave of manpower reductions (most involuntary...preventing many from reaching their retirement goal), squadron and ship decommissioning was devastating to so many basic national and military capabilities, such as shipbuilding (surface and subs), ASW, anti-mine, airlift & sealift capability, etc. That drawdown was so far that it's implications are still being felt after 9/11 proved we were too thin in our capabilities (the right or wrong conversation regarding the invasion of Iraq is a whole other conversation), and we're still digging out of that hole.

(I'm an ex Royal Navy Submariner so I love nuclear power, and my family used to run a slaughterhouse so I love steak) LOL But you ARE triggered. YOU brought up Trump when quoting my posted video, when the video, itself, had nothing to do with him. YOU, for some unknown reason, brought up wind turbines. That one still makes no sense. But I guess that was just "weak-ass trolling". Now, you're trying to tell me I was being weak? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHA Go on, pull the other one. And I'm still curious how you'd cut a steak with a weak-ass plastic butter knife. You started some crap with your ranting BS, then I shut you down on every silly point you tried to make, your ego can't let it go, so you keep spiraling down the rabbit hole with more failed attempts. Just stop. You'll be better off. (And congrats on the military service! Much respect for those who serve in the US Military and her Allies!)

I'm not though, I've never been triggered before, I brought up Trump because his name is in the thread title and as America only has a two party system and hes leader of the Republicans of course it has to do with him/party. I brought up the wind turbines because that's what Trump said at a rally and shows how deluded he is, bit like your comment about me using a butter knife to cut my steak (I use a Damascus knife by the way). Not sure how you shut down my every point either but if it makes you happy then fine, you shut me down. I dont do ego's either that's for footballers (it's not called soccer either, it was football before America even thought of their girly rugby) and actors and shit. So to wrap this up, I'm not triggered, i dont have an ego and i use a Damascus knife to cut my steak. Oh and I like spirals, they're pretty.

Republicans are good at running things financially wise but are dogshit at tackling cultural issues because most of them are stuck in the 50s,60s,70s. Democrats used to be a decent party but they've since fallen into disorganization and are generally insane. Pretty much all moderates of both parties have been exiled by peers and will probably never have a chance to run for President

Yeah I think out of the two it was a no brainer. Also, there are ex-service people in my family who've voted Labour, I've voted Labour with Corbyn in charge, and there are a great many ex-service people who've voted Labour, are members of the Party, and even in the Parliamentary Labour Party. They threatened it and then backed down, saying it "could be an option" proves nothing. A no-confidence vote by peers wouldn't actually change anything anyway, it's MPs you need a vote from to actually formally challenge a leader.
