When I see people online, but not saying anything in the shoutbox, I generally don't say anything because of fear if I do say, hi, how's it going or whatever, they won't respond back. I think I'll end up looking dumb or foolish. But in doing that, I may have given the impression of being rude or unfriendly.
So I'm just going to ask. Does it bother you when people do that?

Anxiety is cool huh? Nah I think it's because people are generally busy with other things, or not much has happened. I'm usually in the same boat when it comes to talking to people but honestly nobody will think you look silly because you tried to get the ball rolling.  You're more likely to not worry about it if a conversation springs up anyway. |

You're more likely to not worry about it if a conversation springs up anyway. Sometimes I've commented and maybe someone was busy and not looking at the shoutbox. Then when they leave and don't say anything, I feel a little awkward--like I should delete what I wrote so either they don't feel bad if they happen to see it much later or so that I won't feel like I'm a loser no one wants to talk to. Lol. I know--it's stupid. There's been plenty of times when people have talked to me so I shouldn't think that way. |

I never log out from my phone or iPad. So i have no idea if I show online all the time.
Sometimes I look at what's going on between meetings or while grabbing lunch. I dont have a lot of time to chat during my normal work day.

Not rude at all LT. I leave multiple tabs open when I'm working or online so I'm sure I show up online a lot. I just don't get back to the shout box for sometimes a few hours or more. Just post away and don't worry about it.

I don't really use a computer. I could look at the shoutbox through desktop mode but it doesn't refresh very well so I pretend the shoutbox doesn't exist. I just check recent threads and the meme page to keep up to date.
