I added some photos to imgur so I can post them on the forums. But I might be doing something wrong. I've been publishing them to imgur and getting mostly downvotes. From the comments, I'm pretty sure people have the wrong idea about some of my photos. 🙄😂
If I upload them without publishing to imgur, would they still work?

Yeah they'll work fine, on the web simply don't choose to share to the community and instead just grab the image link. On the app make sure you set it as a private post. Those you share the link with will see it no problem.

I use Photobucket. I find it a lot easier to use than imgur. Use Photobucket... It's the haws..
