Westfield tends to get far less flak (please excuse the pun) than say maps like say Port or Dragon Ridge. Personally though I think it may be a touch over-rated.
in essence most battles there boil down to the blast-fest that takes place either side of the ridge that starts at around B3, C4 and goes down towards the higher of the villages.
A couple of snipers tend to go to the other side of the bridge and a couple of campers hang around in the trees. So it tends to be the same thing every time. Not sure that makes for a good map though.
What do you think on this one, is it a favourite or do you groan when you see it and if so why?

I don't mind it too much, particularly if I'm running my STB-1, and I've had decent results in different parts of the map with multiple tanks. However, I agree with you that there's usually just a massive melee at the ridge. I do shudder though when I see half the team heading to the very far ridge across the valley because I pretty much know we're going to get steamrolled at the ridge, followed by the lemmings across the valley getting sniped off one by one from the village.

I'm still just confused by the people that always go from the north spawn to the end of the bridge and wait there the whole game to "snipe". Most times it seems they just wind up being the last ones left there on their team when the rest gets overrun instead of actually doing anything worthwhile.

I like how you are a hacker when you kill that unspotted bridge sniper. You know the last ones are there. It's a potato identification point. Any map where you can work the terrain and the corridors are mental not physical thus traversable for those who dare is a good map.

Its actually a pretty crap map in my eyes. Not really many options on it. I've had limited success recently going to the village, but I usually just end up dead(sometimes hilariously quickly too). I might just start camping a bit further back and then adapting to how the match is going instead of charging like a moron.

I call it Scout Medal Map...I don't always come out on top or smelling like a rose, but I love hill fighting so much that I really love this map. That main hill at the top of the map never fails to provide me an exciting battle...except that one time I got snap-one-shotted by a KV-2 that was on the move when I poked my t37 over to initial spot the reds.

I might just start camping a bit further back and then adapting to how the match is going instead of charging like a moron. I've had good success on the ridge (more so spawning from the South) with good turreted tanks and,or good depression (140, STB-1, STA-1, Type 59). I think the south side of the ridge affords better reverse angling up the hill to pot shot tanks going to the West map edge of the North ridge.
There is also a depression just North of the village and before you get to the bridge that runs down into the valley. I have used my Borsig (great side shots with the 15cm), E-25, and Type 59 here to get really good shots into the reds in all game modes, but particularly encounter and team destruction.
There is also a depression just to the East at the top of the hill out of the valley that works extremely well for slow turretless TDs with decent gun depression for encounter and team destruction modes. I have had some really good games with my Tortoise from this spot and the distance from the village and the ridge makes it hard to hit the tumor if you stay moving in, out and around this depression.

I have a lot of tanks that are really tall or have poor gun depression. I just have to wait it out and see what happens usually.

There are some side hill points where you can shoot red sides going up the hill or whilst they traverse openings in the village. Gun depression is a plus map. Strong turrets and peeking for shots plays well.
What'd be cool is take the bridge center map as a train track (like Prohorovka)with the train berm running east/west across the map.

I like Westfield.
Northspawn has a superb sniping spot, on the edge of the cliff right inbetween B6/B7 - It's also a good spot to react to a scenario in which the bridge flank defenders fall. Any incoming base assailant in the valley is prone to this sniping spot.
And as Snorelacks pointed out that F6/F7 slope ; creates nice opportunity to create extra momentum of speed if you're in a fast tank.

I'm rather fond of it, actually. Though I tend to prefer more openish maps, and I love ridge fighting.

I like it, when most of my team stay away from the bridge (or probably aqueduct). If i have some gun depression i work the ridge, if i can't do that i use the village for peek-a-boom and sidescraping.

I normally run to C3 get the enitail spots for the team to see where the reds are heading so the greens can set up. I'll do this for the opening minutes then sprint to the other side of the valley and work my way around to the rear of the reds. sometimes this works other times it bites me in the ass because it is a tier X match and all the tanks there out view range me even with coated optics. But a good chunk of the time I can atleast get to Arty before i am wiped off the map because the reds realise I'm there in my Bulldog and 3 or 4 heavies and mediums or TDs turn and take aim at me. Still worth getting to arty and helping the team instead of hiding by the bridge.

I love t play westfield but WG thinks I want to play new maps.
Also did they change the spawn for this? Last time I played it, I spawned the left side of the map and it ( All you lovely people press the back button Im sure of it so know what I mean ) had 3 spawns with the 3rd up top but the other spawn only had 1 and that was at the bottom. Obv we won from that spawn but how could this OP ness happen

I liked it better before they moved the spawns when the tanks spawned on the valley floor and the tanks spread out across the maps, mostly into two groups - town/ridge and the bridge/ridge. A lot more variables this way. These days with the spawns are on opposing ends of the town, it's almost always just that town/ridge fight.
