I used to despise the map but then I figured out the trick is to try and take the center area before you get to the tracks, of course this only really works if you spawn South. North spawn gets all jumbled up in those infernal train tracks. Really if they cut down on the tracks and train cars it would be at least somewhat more acceptable.

I love the map. The only downer is the pain in the ass that is traversing the railroad. What a clusterfuck. I think the real design "failure" if there is one, is as follows:
The ends of the maps containing the spawns are beautiful, but there's rarely any battling to be had there. Most of the fighting is done at either end of the train tracks. THere are so many awesome corridors and what not near either spawn. It's a shame less than 10% of the fighting in a given match occurs there. I would love to see an Encounter mode on Port. Spawn both teams on either the north or the south side, one on the east and one on the west, and place the encounter flag in the center of the opposite end (north or south). From the jump, either team could head for the other's spawn, thus battling it out in industrial area...or they could sprint for the flag, fighting on the tracks along the way, or fghting in the industrial complex on the other side by the objective.
The probelm with that map is that it creates the focus of battle in the least awe inspiring portion of it.
I feel Widepark would benefit from this too. De-emphasizing the tracks in the middle of that map would cease it from being a colossal game of peekaboo. More fighing amongst the buildings in that map would be awesome...especially on the south side.

Port isn't that bad to be fair, if i spawn north in a fast tank and not alot of artillery i'll rush south and just destroy everbody on the south spawn. I spawn south i go middle with gun depression shoot down the EAST and help the WEST flank.
High tier games it's bad but it can't see 9/10s anymore so it's fine.

i like porn erm i mean port (which is worse?) fast tank zipping about spotting and sniping stuff, allmost allways an exit, i love it. even when my teams all dead i just zip about resetting the cap and trolling the reds till i mess up and get pinned down and butchered, ahhh good times.

They need to remove a lot of the trains. Make the streets much wider (therefore less buildings), and reduce the incline of the bridges to promote there use more.

It's one sided that's why it's bad, to be honest it wouldn't be terrible if they could balance it because it would be ok, it's not a corridor map. Offers lots of options, just needs balance.

I guess it's the same as covering the terrain full speed and coming to a dead stop because of a small rock.

Why can't an armor piercing shell capable of going through four inches of hardened armor plate go through both sheet metal sides of a freight car without slowing down? Train cars should be destructable terrain in this game, to be either shot or driven through by a big enough gun or tank.

All of the cityscape maps are vile! Too obstructed and very short firing lines. You got a gun that can shoot 1500 metres and WG give us less than half a city block. Go figure...

My biggest problem with the city maps is the inconsistency in what can and can't be destroyed. Building, yes. Stairs, nope. Light post, yes. Railroad sign, nope. Etc, etc, etc.
It just doesn't make any sense. Personally if we are going to do city maps they should be fully destructible. Hell, every man made object in the game should be able to be destroyed. Just my two cents.
