I've been looking at the Italian premiums and there are 2 current choices (my current top tier is 7)
Aosta at t6
Roma at t8
So is it worth getting one? If there is no line coming I'd rather get a higher tier Japanese prem (currently only have a t4)
Japanese options
Mutsu at t6
Atago / Kii / Harekaze at t8
So, any recommendations?

Whilst I love my D’Aosta, she is a bit undergunned. I can work around it since I’m mostly a co-op scrub, but many people just consider her weak. Roma, on the other hand, is a touch “overgunned” with regards to her penetration. Her shells make a mockery of Tier X BB armor but can overpen cruisers all day long.

Roma is a blast to play, but I don't know if we'll get a fully fleshed Italian line. You'd think so, since we now have three premiums, but I don't know how tough it would be to actually build a whole line.
On the IJN side I have the fully upgraded Kongo, but I've basically set it aside in order to work on US cruisers. I picked up Ashitaka a couple weeks ago. If she's still available, I'd recommend her. Basically she's a fast battlecruiser with 410mm guns at tier VII.

Think I'll leave it for now. I've got the Ishizuchi as aJapanese trainer, plus I got a 10pt captain from the Newport Op.
No need for an Italian without a line to grind.

An Italian cruiser line is scheduled to be released late this year, likely around December. There's also enough Italian BBs for a full line, with tiers 9-10 being paper ships. Not sure on the DDs, but there were a couple famous ones so I'm sure we'll at least see 1 or 2 premiums.
I love my d'Aosta, even if she is considered weak. She's murder to DDs, and her armor can be trollish to other cruisers when angled. She sucks bawls against BBs, however.
Roma is by all accounts a fun ship. She'll regularly overpen broadside cruisers within 10 km, though.

Agree that Roma is fun (and a full concealment build is HILARIOUS -- it's like 11km detection  ) but the dispersion is ... Well, your shells are like having a bunch of Eric Cartmans flying around yelling "I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!" Kinda frustrating at times. But it is REALLY tanky when bow on -- I bounced a Yamato last night.  And the Gulio is sublime. I suck ass in it, but it is a GREAT ship. If they do release a Italian BB line, they've set the bar pretty high. |
