Dear Forum,



In particular I would like to extend kind regards to old friends and forum elders. I won’t name names, primarily for fear of offending someone by omission. I would like to say that I have missed the place but I have popped in from time to time and haven’t been too impressed by the level of discourse. It seems many of the loudest voices have disappeared (or been silenced?) and, with them, has gone some of the bile but also much of the energy and wisdom of the community.



Anyway, enough sour grapes, I have returned for a specific purpose and I should not allow myself to get side-tracked. No topics tempted me to contribute until now. When Crowley began collecting data last year we saw little evidence of an immediate threat to the game but when I examined the (Playerbase) figures again around Christmas they showed a marked decline. Since then I have been following them, and they do not look good. There is no way to sugar coat this, if the Playerbase figures are a measure of the health of the game then the game is indeed very sick. Seeking greater clarity I began studying the 28-day and 7-day figures and, if anything, they were ever more concerning.



When R35T (and others) started this debate I felt that someone should sound the alarm. However, it was also clear to me that nobody else had both access to the figures and an idea of how to present them and so it was clear that this role fell to me. While there may be a handful of others who could provide you with this information it is likely they all work for WG and are unlikely to embrace transparency.



Anyway to cut a long story slightly less long, hereis a short video I prepared to summarise my conclusions; I know how much you all hate reading. Those of you who are really curious you can compare this with a similar video I produced last year, but didn’t publicise.

Agreed, I enjoy playing the game.

The majority of the posts on the forum about the state of the game have been asking nicely (see R3STs posts) for WG to either tell us about the future or explain why the number of reskins.

WG refuse to answer about the future but continue pumping out reskins. I seriously doubt we will see new lines, like Italy, and think the Swedish line was a total failure - bar a few maps the TDs just do not work on console.

There will be a point that is crossed, terminal decline if you will, and beyond this point the game is doomed. At that point they will be losing more money that they can recoup - this might be acceptable for a few months but eventually it will just be unviable. WG will then make the decision to stop.

From what I gather on posts on the video, the forum post has been removed.

It really is quite staggering that they don't seem to be taking any steps at all, to slow this decline. The numbers are clear, the trend is clear and it's noticeable how at certain times on the EU Server wait times are longer than they ever were, and 7 vs 7 games are becoming more frequent. I've seen the decline and ultimate end of other MMOG over the years and WOT is showing the signs.

When I finally get my laptop I'll be downloading World Of Warships and will be joining BNKR there. Not the same playing it on my phone.

I wonder of they are waiting for tanks to die so they can roll out a "new" tanks game. With many improvements and fixes. That would reinvigorate their sales a bit. And if they were able to aim it for new consoles and leave out 360 from the get go, it would save them a lot of hassle.
It's what i would do.
