The mediums tanks in these tiers are, for the most part, pretty good. Some of them are keepers. I still have the T-44. I bought it back after grinding out the T62a. The Indien Panzer is one of the better tanks that doesn't get much press but fully upgraded is a fantastic flanker. Cromwell at tier VI is the textbook definition of Circle and Kill. A-43 was a fun tank and often overlooked. The Easy 8 is a fun tank to play when fully upgraded. The T-20 was good. I kept the Panther after I finished grinding it. The A-44 almost has a TD feel about it and has one of the harder hitting guns for its tier. The Chinese T-34-1 is hardly ever mentioned but I thought it was pretty good. The Chi-Ri is stupid fun with the 3 shot autoloader. I know, it's as big as the Tiger II, but the 3 shot burst is good as a support tank. Also the Pershing is very good at ridgeline peek-a-boom.
Many good candidates in the tiers mentioned

Yet another vote for the Cromwell/Comet. Both are the best tech tree mediums in their tiers. The Pershing seems to be better than the Centurion, but I won't know until I've actually played my Cent (still overtraining the crew for it).
Haven't played any of the others, but I've never really been intimidated by Panthers.

Well you already went through the American line, so I don't need to say anything else about them.
The Brits have some really great mediums. The Cromwell is a little race car with a gun and the Comet is a fantastic tank as well. The Centurion Mk.1 is a hull down supporter similar to the Pershing, but it doesn't quite have the same mobility, but it at least leads to the 7/1. You'll want that.
The Russian have good mediums as well. I really enjoyed the T-34-85, even though I loathed the T-34. The T-43 wasn't spectacular, but it was reliable and got the job done. The T-44 is a great flanker and brawler as well, and leads to the T-54. Enough said.
The Germans seem to be all about the support. The 30.02M is a baby Panther and will get you in the mindset for the Panther I which is generally underrated but if allowed to sit back and snipe in support it can really build the damage up. The Panther II can be played the same way, but it can also bounce a shot thanks to the increase in armor, but I found the 88L/71 to be a bit trollish on the accuracy. The Leopard line was enjoyable. They play more like a standard, flanking style medium. The 30.01D and 30.02D are almost the same tank with the exceptions of the guns you can mount. The Indien-Panzer has a similar play style to the Pershing. It's gun has better penetration, but it has a long aim time. I used both vert. stabs. and a GLD on mine.
The Japanese are generally support tanks as well. They have paper armor, but they get good guns to offset that. The Chi-To isn't really note worthy. The Chi-Ri can mount a 3 round auto-loader that can be reloaded in about 9 seconds. It's a lot of fun to pop out, slam three shots into a target and withdraw while they can at best get one shot at you. The STA-1 is like a lighter version of the Pershing. It has a better gun, but worse armor. Typical for the Japanese.
I am unfamiliar with the Chinese line outside of the Type 59.
Default equipment on almost all these tanks is your standard medium load out. Coated optics, vert. stabs and rammer. Some tanks can use a different set, Indien-Panzer as I noted. Tanks that can't mount the stabilizer, you could use vents or GLD. It's a matter of personal choice.
As for perks, they all tend to have the same. 6th sense, BiA and mentor is always my base three. Camo of course and smooth ride and snap shot. My Russians carry preventative maintenance and some tanks that have weak ammo racks also have safe stowage.
Sorry for the wall of text, but I'm bored at work.

Comet. Get one. Never look back. I agree Sqn Ldr B! I have to admit though, that the T-34-1 and T-34-2 are monsters in their own tier as well.

T-34-88 is OP as hell, love that tank.
If you get the chance, run a 34-88 and a cromwell in a platoon. It's a riot!
