Out of all my ships, even Warspite, this cruiser just seems to farm citadels. It tends to get me 5-6 but managed 10 in 1 game earlier which is by far the most i've ever had. Only did 58k damage total though, was against tier 6 and 7s, seems low to me for 10 citadels, am i missing something?  |

If you press Print Screen it stores to a "screenshots" folder in your WoWS folder.
As for the damage - I *think* max AP shell damage for De Grasse is 3,300 - which would make the citadel hits 33,000 of your total damage (could be less if you hit a cit or two on a low health target that didn't have 3,300 HP to give). If you had a lot of HE shatters that would definitely explain why the rest of your shells did an average of ~373 damage. Do you have IFHE on your captain?

Ah that's where the pics go.. The laptop started going on about dropbox or something. I've got IFHE trained but i was firing AP in that battle. I'm still not sure of the best times to use HE with a cruiser tbh, it rarely seems to set fires.

She does indeed do 3,300 max for a perfect citadel and she is a monster at farming them. The De Grasse is my 3rd most played cruise, only behind the Duca D'Aosta and the Perth.
If you don't have IFHE on her, make that a priority. As a matter of fact, after trying both IFHE and CE as my first 4-point skill, I settled on IFHE as I prefer to keep her guns hot at all times.
And don't forget her trollish spaced armor that can really screw with those penetrating HE hits that would nuke any other cruiser.

Just managed to get 5 stars on the op with it and got a medal for surviving etc, and a 10 point US captain. Seemed like an easy op but being able to zoom about hitting BBs from diffrent angles certainly helped.
Getting used to not having a heal is a bit brutal but already really enjoying the cruiser playstyle.

I recently switched CE for IFHE due to the same reason, and i save the speed boost for bailing out if a bad situation occurs. Which targets do you use HE on when in the De Grasse? I use AP against cruisers, BBs it depends on angles, not sure regarding DDs and CVs. In my BB i tend to fire HE at them due to overpens but it might be different with a cruiser, i'm not sure. |

HE is most useful against anything not showing relatively flat broadside and on DDs. AP is good against broadsides - and often on battleships you'll need to aim for upper belt or superstructure.

HE is my default shell type in the De Grasse. I use it on all DD's, Cruisers until the go broadside, BBs until the go broadside at fairly close range, and CVs until broadside, close, and on fire.
And don't forget her nasty torps. While they aren't pure killers, they are great to cause a flood on top of the fires.
