Back in the day, Destiny dropped and everyone who was hyped for it was disappointed by the end.
However early in it, as the journey of a Guardian began, they found themselves without a weapon and Fallen roaming.
Luckily for them, someone in the past had fell and left behind a gun very similar to an M4, one beautiful Khvostov. This sturdy rifle had survived through the years and rescued them from death at the hands of the Fallen.
Most promptly dropped the rifle or stowed it away never to see light again for over 2 years, however one Guardian chose to carry it with them the whole way.
They finally reached the Black Garden, where the Heart of Darkness lay and an Army of Vex to guard it. These robotic creatures that had been converted from who knows what species had over the years been reinforcing themselves to face all kinds of foes. The shock of Fallen weaponry, the sheer power of a Cabal Slug Round, the weaponry of these beings called Guardians with their Last Words and Ice Breakers.
They proved no match for trusty 5.56mm rounds.
Years later, after defeating one of the most powerful Vex Minds, Hive Gods and even a Golden Age weapon that had transformed Fallen with the Khvostov, they put the beauty to rest and armed themselves with another.
The Traveler's Chosen was gifted to Guardians chosen by the Traveler, to help them in their journeys.
When The Red Legion struck, despite their best they were defeated by the Cabal, and found their Sidearm damaged. Not knowing if it could ever be repaired many once again stowed it away.
After regaining their Light and taking out everything in their way, they took the fight to the leader, to Ghaul who had become infatuated with the Traveler and it's Light.
With The Almighty destroyed and the Sun saved, they stood face to face with the giant Rhino upon his flagship, with the Traveler to bear witness to it all.
One might think with such great risks at the final showdown, a Guardian would bring their best gear, and so they did.
They brought the Traveler's Chosen.
It was damaged, it's firepower weakened and it's clip low. But it was reliable.
It was all they needed.
Now this is the end, partner, our final fight. The Vanguard are here to finish it. Mars taught us how to fight Cabal, The Hive showed us how desperate they will be. But remember we were the ones that made it possible. The Traveler ends it. But we beat Ghaul and we didn't die. That's victory, it says so on the gun.
