I swore I'd never get a "plastic" weapon, but the 26 was my first. Great weapon!! It's the oddball to go with my other handguns- Ruger 1911, Ruger Blackhawk .41 Mag, Ruger Vaquero Colt .45, Ruger GP100 .357 Mag, S&W Model 17, Colt Diamondback .22 (x2), Colt Woodsman .22 and Rugee SP101 .22. Funny thing is that I was the same way. When they first came out, I just couldn't bring myself to trust a "plastic" firearm. I finally broke down in 1997 and bought a Gen 3 model 22 as my primary home and range pistol. It has been nothing but reliable and accurate. When I started dating my soon-to-be wife, she liked everything about the G22 except the sharp recoil inherent in the .40 S&W, so I bought her a Gen2 17 in 2000. After that, i didn't buy another Glock until 2014 when I got the opportunity to shoot a Gen4 19 and just had to have one. Then it was off to the races! In 12 months I picked-up a Gen4 19, Gen4 34, Gen3 17C, Gen3 17L, and a Gen4 43. I haven't picked-up a 26 just because I don't get along with the grip. If they roll-out a Gen5 minus the finger grooves, I'll buy the first only my local store gets in. I did add to my "non-plastic" collection this past weekend. Foud this little gem hiding on the used rack: This is one of the original run of 2000 made in 1997-98 by the Performance Center. The previous owner still had the original box of ammo he bought with the pistol as the recoil was too much for him, so he just stuck it in the closet and never put more than the 24 rounds missing from the box through it.

It came down to the G26 and the M&P Shield for my CCW and the 26 just felt and shot better for me. I did have to change out the back strap to get the right fit. Amazingly accurate and pleasant to shoot.

I picked-up the G43 last May and was amazed at how easy to shoot it was, especially for such a small pistol. I've looked at the Shields but they never quite felt right. The Wife, on the other hand, preferred the Springfield XD-S as she has a fondness for grip safties.

Love the 9mm version and carry it every day. The .45 just had too few rounds and was a pain to fire off more than a few magazines.

The .45 is a bit of a handful but that new .40 they announced is liable to be worse. Just the slide velocity increase will make it unpleasant. The Wife loves her 9mm XDs, XDm 3.8 9mm, and her EMP 9mm. She has a Springfield "thing" going.

You guys have some awesome guns. I only have a couple. My carry piece is a XD .40 sub-compact (olive drab)and then I have my Colt H-Bar AR (like mentioned before) and an old .30-06 that was my grandfathers. I wish I had more friends that liked to shoot. I would like to learn more and get better. But it is fun.

Like you mention, low ammo count and stiff recoil for such a small light hand gun. I much prefer my Ruger 1911, but it's a heavy bastard to carry.

Hope to finally own and shoot one of these lovely guns someday Cool. I'm not really a gun person but I can appreciate the craftsmanship, technology and history of a wheel lock. I think it's really unfortunate so many people have such little appreciation for them. I think it's amazing they could make them in the time period at all.

I've been playing rugby for almost 27 years and still love it.... i'm generally a calm collected person but the rugby pitch brings out all of the rage... nothing more satisfying than mashing someone on the pitch....
Other than that computer games and more computer games....

I imagine I'm going to perhaps be in a minority here, but when I'm not playing tanks, you might find me playing my bass guitar or writing.

Hell, if one happened near me I'd bring out the Lee-Enfield just to make Sqn. Ldr B jealous lol

I skateboard, still pretty good at it too. Used to skate street, started getting too old for that and learned to skate pools. I also collect skateboards too.
