Hi everyone,
As I have been reading the normal WoT forums and other forums such as the Armored warfare and War Thunder forums I have come to some realizations.
No player base on any version of this game seems generally happy.
I visited the PC WoT forum and saw tons of complaint threads about balance and the like, Armored Warfares player base seems to think their game is already dead. And the enthusiasm for War Thunder has always seemed low because it is the most niche of the three games.
I do still think our game is in a bad state due to all our reskins and balance scarcity but I cant tell as of yet if it is just our game in trouble or all of the armored vehicle multiplayer games. So I have to ask, are we a dying breed?
I think if it really comes down to it console may have the best chance of long term survival only because it is a free title on a platform that is 98% paid titles, and consoles are all mainstream. You wont find an Xbox One or PS4 that cant run WoT. So it seems people will be more likely to visit our version. But we need to retain players. I have said before that I am not against re skins as long as we get the new premium unskinned at the same time. But if our version doesnt see continued content release and updating to keep all the vehicles relevant and balanced we may see our version decline faster than others.
Hope this thread made sense. Im pretty tired.

WoT PC has been having to try and make drastic changes to the game, which a dev only tends to do when their game is struggling. I still find the fact that WG console hasn't started doing the same, or even widescale balance changes, to be odd consider how small the playerbase has become.

Yeah, PC at this point has had improvements. But between new game modes, physics, tank physics (siege mode) (artillery stun) it seems like they are trying to overhaul the game to make it seem more modern. Which has worked out fine for the most part. As to why the console devs have not done anything is beyond me. Our server is getting down to 8,000 players at 9 on a Saturday. That is pretty low. Something needs to change.

Player retention is a massive problem. Now with a free to play game you're always going to have a high volume of people download it and barely play, that's to be expected. But the numbers are staggering. The fact is, this game is very difficult to play when you first download the game. The tutorials are fairly easy and then boom -- you're in a pub match facing off against fucktards that have 15,000 battles in the T22 or the T-Rex. I don't know about everyone else but when I first started playing I was terrible. I remember getting to tier 3 for the first time and running into a KV-1 or an M3 Lee and getting completely destroyed in 2 seconds. The game should cater more to new players. SPMM for all players with less than 2000 battles. And if players want to play OP tier 3 premiums and they have more than 2500 battles, they should have to play against each other. But it's a catch 22, because we don't have the server population to segregate the skilled players playing low tiers. We don't have the server population to implement any MM changes at all, to be fair.
So what do you do? 100% this was the reasoning behind War Stories. I don't know if it will help 100%, but we shall see. IMO they need to do more. Or we'll all be in 2 minute queues and just waiting to blow each other up.

I understand completely about how you felt in the beginning, when I first started playing. Game after game I felt it was impossible to do any good and was sooooo close to quitting, because I wasn't doing any good. I can see how others might get disgusted and give up on the game.

I just made this video on the re release of the U.S. Sexton 1 and made a post on the original forum. Thought I would post it here since it has to do with player retention. Because vehicles like this destroy peoples morale. I had the thing less than an hour when I just started one shotting a third of a team which is in that replay.

WG console would have to admit there's a problem though, and we all know WG don't do that.

One thing Warships gets right is that it has XP requirements on certain aspects of the game.
You can't play a random battle your first few games -- you play vs. bots. Things like modules, equipment, crew skills ... all those become unlocked as you continue to play.
Too bad tanks didn't do something similar, nor does it force new players to go through War Stories (which is what it basically is -- a tutorial).

I've pretty much lost interest. Alot has to with them selling tanks I paid for as reskins and giving other reskins away as award tanks. That and they don't fix shit, they just like changing it constantly. You know what I don't care about? Another fucking tank line!!! Also don't care for more acheivements too. I was so happy when I unlocked them all, then they added more! Maybe I will be sad when they pull the plug and I don't have access to my 100 or so tanks I never use anymore. But I've lost intrest. Even after they did warstories. Still don't feel like trying it out. Although I will say this, the multiplayer experience on this game is WAY better than GTA 5 online.
