I don't mean stuff like Monopoly or classics like Chess but what might be called 'German games' like Carcassone, Settlers of Catan, Russian Railroads, Pandemic or Ticket to Ride?

I've thought about it but didn't buy any yet, no one would play them with me. So i had to be happy with Risk and Blood Bowl 2 on the Xbone. Oh and Carcassone on the 360

Slightly more complicated than Risk but same concept and loads of great pieces. It makes a good two player as well. Other ones to try might be History of the World.

Oh and Carcassone on the 360 Carcassonne has loads of excellent variants in board form (cardboard not XB). A couple I can highly recommend are Carcassonne; Hunters and Gatherers and Carcassonne; The Castle

If you like World domination, you might like domination in Space. Check out 'Cosmic Encounters' where you play an alien race with special powers and try and defeat other alien races with different special powers. It's huge fun and brilliant.

Here's an article linking to a dozen places you can play Risk online, many of them free and with many of its variants. Enjoy www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/where-to-play-risk-online/

Me too re board games, have 300 or so around the house and mostly play what might be called the German style games like Settlers of Catan. There are so many good ones around and I'm often on www.boardgamegeek.com looking for more. Playing a lot of Pandemic at the moment and it's brilliant.

I've been considering a new board game, I'll have to research pandemic, see if it's something the wife would like too.

The subject matter seems strange but the game works very well. Multiple cities around the world get infected with four viruses and it's your job to cure and clear them. It's co-operative and I play it with my two daughters aged 14 and 18 and my wife. It's easy to learn, seems a but strange at first but one game and you'll be fully familiar with it. Highly recommended.

I think they have it at target, that will make picking it up a bit easier. Have you ever played ZOMBIES! You build the role map and have to get around and complete objectives while the other players move zombies in your way and out of their way?

Coincidentally, I bookmarked Zombicide on Amazon a couple of days ago. I liked the collaborative look of it and the description of the game at the bottom of the page looked great. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0092GHPSI/

I found the ZOMBIES! Game it's by twilight creations. (I can't paste the link to the website for some reason)

That's the one! It's great fun. I have the 5th version, it is a very evil dead/ cabin in the woods vibe. I like it but vastly prefer the one you linked.
