They're doing the one container for a dollar deal again. Worth it.

What follows is my unqualified opinion based on my first day with a new Premium ship. It is merely the opinion of some random stranger who may or may not be a complete loon.
The Gallant is, unfortunately, somewhat disappointing. While the single-fire torp gimmick is handy at times, the ship just does not have anything to recommend her over the Farragut or the Anshan. She is oh so close, but just leaves me wanting more. I think a rate of fire boost for either the torps or the guns would be enough. Her handling is rather good (running propulsion mod 2) but I'm thinking I'm going to swap out to steering mod 2 just to see if it is worth it.
One big problem is, as a tier VI, I found myself in VII & VIII 90% of the time, so radar negated the stealth torp window and CVs can park planes over you with impunity. The most your AA can hope to do is give the pilot cramps from laughing so hard. Honestly, it's like the friggin cook is on deck throwing cans of SPAM at passing aircraft.
The good news is that the guns make short work of Japanese DDs and can, given enough time, set some helpful fires. The torps are 61kt, 8km models that, besides taking forever to reload at tier VI, have really surprised me with low damage rolls (5 hits on a Scharnhorst for only 38k and no floods?). Heck, I hit a coop bot Gallant with 3 torps and he sailed off! That's the downside to single-launch torps: damage saturation!
Ok, last bad item: she is very fragile with low HPs and modules that get knocked out by harsh language. Do not plan on dogfighting anything other than Japanese DDs, preferably lower-tier ones at that!
Now, I am only running an 8-point captain so far (Prevent Maint, Last Stand, Torp Armament Expertise) so I'm sure getting CE will help, as will survivability expert. But for now, I cannot recommend the Gallant unless you really want a British DD or are a collector. To be quite frank, barring the Campbeltown, she is my least favorite Premium DD yet.

Have you tried it on the op? You should have fun with it on that. It will give you something to play with other than the Anthony and the Cyclone. You might enjoy it more! Hopefully WG will give ut a buff soon. Sorry it's not working out for ya

I don't have the Gallant, nor have I seen them in random. But right now in Ranked they are beast. Probably because they are a jack of all trades (6km detect w/ CE, decent smoke, better-than-IJN guns, 8km torps). They may be useless outside of ranked - but right now they are the bane of my existence. Also, give yours another try after ranked battles end, most T6 ships are in there right now so MM is boned.
