I was convinced that I needed the Hood - but after seeing all the reviews and seeing them in battle, I'm just going to save my money for the Scharnhorst. But good luck with the Hood!
EDIT: I just re-read this and realized it sounded negative. I didn't mean it that way, sorry. Just meant that I want the Hood to be awesome and I don't think it's amazing. BUT I am glad WG didn't put another OP premium in the game, so hats off to them for that.

I wouldn't get the kaga it's not as good as the hiryu in testing and a pound cheaper the a the kutuchov

And there is a captain skill that improves fighter performance against higher tier opponents, which will make the Kaga planes a threat to Hiryu fighters. |

Yeah, you will lose most of the time. But my point was, the Kaga fighters are close enough in DPS to last for quite awhile in a 1v1 or 2v2 dogfight. And in that time, your strike planes can fly in and out unopposed. You also have a huge hangar, so you can afford to sacrifice the fighter squads a couple times. You can also try to bait the Hiryu into locking one of your squads with both of his. Then you strafe the whole dogfight with your second squad.
