How much it matters I know not - but it is an ironic reality.
One noteworthy reality about Europe’s current political leadership is summarised here:
• Macron, the newly elected French president, has no children.
• German chancellor Angela Merkel has no children.
• British prime minister Theresa May has no children.
• Italian prime minister Paolo Gentiloni has no children.
• Holland’s Mark Rutte,
• Sweden’s Stefan Löfven,
• Luxembourg’s Xavier Bettel,
• Scotland’s Nicola Sturgeon—all have no children.
• Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, has no children.
"So a grossly disproportionate number of the people making decisions about Europe’s future have no direct personal stake in that future."
Pensem o que quiserem.

I'm gonna go with "it makes no difference" on this one.

I'm gonna go with "it makes no difference" on this one. It makes a difference, making a better future for ones children is on the top of the priority list for almost all parents. With no personal stake in the future, they are more likely to focus on improving their situation and the detriment to others.

You don't need to have kids in order to generally be a decent person. Theresa May can't have kids now and has said she regrets not having children when she could. Xavier Bettel will presumably never have children, because he is gay. The general cynical view is that politicians have a personal stake in everything, but now they don't have a personal stake in it and that's a problem as well apparently.

And, conversely, having children doesn't necessarily give you an altruistic perspective. Look at the solipsist leading USA.

Theresa May did have children but she absorbed their life force to become Prime Minister.

At least for myself, before I was a father I never put much thought into what the future holds past my life expectancy, but now that I am I more focused on the world my son will face as an adult.

Kids or no kids politicians are still politicians. Raising false hopes and making bullshit promises and usually in the pockets of the corporatations. Just about all of our presidents have had kids, and it didn't make them better leaders. Hell, if H. W. Bush would have kept his dick in his pants, we wouldn't have had G.W. Bush for president. Who wasn't exactly a great president.
