Just picked up the tortoise the other day, I have the first 20 pounder on it, the rof is nutty but the pen is lacking against a lot of the tanks it faces. I've been doing lots of tracking with it, and sniping weak spots, and doing okay, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on equipment, or strategy?

RJD..I wasn't an expert in it (1 MoE), but I kept it because once it's upgraded it isn't all that unenjoyable depending on the map. I think I ran rammer, vents and optics, but I know some run with a spall liner. I also made sure I had clutch breaking, track repairs and off road driving to help in the maneuverability. It actually is a little more nimble than some guys realize (though don't be fooled) and I have surprised lazy tankers that tried to circle me.
I also always stayed near a sold object if I could in order to back my ass up to it in case someone tried to circle me. I could rub them off this way. Great tank when you can find a spot that will let you maximize your dpm, accuracy and alpha. That HESK is brutal on French tanks, Waffles and LTs.

The Tortoise is a fucking beast when fully upgraded.
Jack the DPM up as much as you can, and it'll top out over 4K DPM.
I can't remember what I have on mine, but Vents/Rammer/Optics sound about right.
Stay near hard cover and angle your tank AROUND the corner with your right side hidden (Commander hatch) because everyone knows that's a weakspot. At that angle even your exposed front can bounce reliably and the gun has enough traverse to shoot red tanks. With a good crew and equipment you can get the reload to under 6 seconds (~4100 DPM).
APCR makes the Tortoise almost insta-pen and it is very accurate.

I've got a youtube vid for the Tortoise. Doing a voice over is like talking to an answering machine, awkward. So please excuse that and my working class accent:
