......Franz Josef I, Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary and Croatia, King of Bohemia, dies of pneumonia, aged 86. He was a well-loved figure throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire and is noted for giving equal political rights and representation to many of the minority peoples in his empire.
