Any pro tips on this? I haven't played it yet. I'm trying to determine if this is a sniper or a support/brawler type of TD for me.. I tend to be agressive when I have armor. It seems with the improved armor it might be a more mid to close range fighter than it's predecessor. (I did fight close up with the JP2 though at times.) I've watched videos and checked stats but I wanted to check it out here.
I'm thinking optics, rammer and vents for an adaptable to the situation type of loadout.
Any advice?

I can't remember the equipment I have on mine, I know I have a rammer and binocs, just can't remember tha 3rd slot.
But a word on tactics, mid-range is where you don't want to be in the Jagdtiger. Either face-huggingly close point blank range, or at long range sniping IMO.
You have a weak lower plate, and unless you're hull down, that will get torn apart at mid-range. Against anything with speed, you're asking to get flanked and killed at mid-range.
If you face hug weaker enemies, even if they have the pen to get through your lower plate, they won't be able to shoot it, or flank you, if you face hug.
Or, at range, they won't be able to see you, and you can pick them apart with that pretty damm good top gun. Even if theh do see you at range, it will be much much harder for them to flank you, or hit any weak spot.
I haven't played mine in a while, but I generally will play conservative in the opening stages, doing what damage I can in a supporting role. Then, once the reds have been beaten down a bit, you can shift into a far more aggressive role, because you'll still have most (probably all) of your hit points left, they won't have most of theirs.

As a person who never uses much spotting equipment on tanks other than lights I'd say go for it. Though if you find yourself being shot/splashed by arty alot you could run spall liner. GLD or verts would be too bad either though.

Equipment doesn't really matter.Choose what equipment suits your preferred play style. Your enemies will tremble at the Jagdtigers approach.
Think of it as a heavily armoured, incredibly accurate, high damaging sniper. Many tanks will pen your lower plate, or maybe even the superstructure with gold, from up close, But The ludicrous combination of accuracy, damage and rate of fire make this tank a threat even to tier 10.
Find a good vantage point with some protection, and when a poor unsuspecting tank is spotted, open them up like a can of sardines. You have the accuracy to snipe weak spots and the damage to make enemies fear you. The jagdtiger is a phenominally good tank destroyer.
Tanks caught in the open will scatter and flee at the onslaught of your mighty cannon.

As above, it depends if you want your Jagdtiger to be a sniper, support TD or even have a more frontline roll. For the sniper, rammer, binocs and either vents to maximize view range, reload, and improve everything else a bit, or GLD to get it aiming faster. For a support build, rammer, optics and vents/GLD and the same for a more frontline oriented build although i don't recommend playing it too close to the front in a tier X game as 183s can 1 shot it. I'd go with support or sniper in tier X and frontline when top tier, with that in mind your build of rammer, optics, vents, would work well. I alternated depending on how the map rotation was being on the day.

Well put REST. Top tier, you can easily devastate the enemy. No tank can safely ignore the threat of a properly driven jagdtiger.
Learn weakspots, and always load up some gold just in case. Rammer, vents and a spall liner will help, as even bottom tier, enemy arty will try to eliminate you. You can decisively change the outcome of a battle even in a tier X game, with proper positioning and situational awareness.

Agreed Dio, a well driven Jagdtiger is a nightmare. I had the best game i've ever had in wot in a Jagdtiger. Pools medal and Kolobanov in the same game, because hull down it's a fortress and that gun makes short work of red tanks.

It was on the old, incredibly campy erlenberg, tier X game. Nobody on either team was spotting, so I went and put a solo beatdown on the other team. Wound up with 9 kills, 9k+ damage IIRC, plus a couple thousand assist points. Scouting in the Jagdtiger isn't a tactic I recommend, but it worked that game...

First off, thanks for all of the replies. There's a lot of good info to learn above.
I've gotta say I love this thing. The gun is just awesome! The armor is pretty good too.
Thanks again all, so far so good. I'm looking forward to the engine upgrade.

Pools medal and Kolobanov in the same game, because hull down it's a fortress and that gun makes short work of red tanks. I definitely believe it, a hulldown Jagdtiger can be a frustrating enemy. The frontal armour is surprisingly bouncy and trollish, and I don't recall a single tank I wasn't able to at least damage. I regret ever selling it, but I really wanted the Jageroo. It can, in the right circumstances, hold a flank alone. Most tankers aren't willing to try and charge a Jagdtiger, and people often seem to forget the absurdly good rate of fire for such a destructive, and high penetrating gun. The Jagdtiger is a good tank in the hands of someone like myself, an average player, but put it into the hands of someone experienced and skilled, and it is truly a devastating weapon. You will find that even in a loss you will be able to cause good damage, and most enemies who do manage to destroy you, will most likely suffer crippling damage in the effort. As with all turretless TD's, if in the threat of a flank by a small light or medium tank, always back against an object, such as a rock or a building, wall, cliff anything close by, before turning towards the threat. This will often prevent it from getting behind you, and can be the difference between another kill and a frustrating trip to the garage (for me anyway)
