People break the law so they should change it so everyone can do it? Cool, sounds legit. Nice job ignoring the single mom example I posted. You have also conveniently ignored Ruthless's post as well. Would you kindly stop acting like an arse? I can't see any post of Ruthless' that I have "ignored". As for the single mother, you're telling me that there is absolutely no other practicable way of reducing that kind of thing than letting everyone carry pistols around?

Once again. Criminals practice concealed carry every day. Whether it's with a knife, gun, or some other weapon. Why shouldn't I (a law abiding citizen) have the same right? Why shouldn't the single mom who lives in a bad part of town have the right to legally carry a concealed firearm to protect herself and her child? It's pretty obvious, some people believe that criminals should be allowed to do what they want until law enforcement arrives. who in their right mind would want to stop a mugging, rape, beating in progress if they seen one. Obviously squad leader prefers the victim mentality. Look, until you can stop treating my opinions with condescension I'm not going to bother trying to argue my point, seeing as you're so set in your ways and won't actually treat anyone with views other than that with anything better than thinly-veiled contempt.

Here is an example that I'm sure has happened before. A young woman is walking home to her apartment from her job as a waitress. It's a little after ten pm when three men approach her with ill intent. One of them is armed with a knife and all of them out weight her by at least 50 lbs. What do you think she'd rather have. A. Mace B. A phone C. A concealed 9mm pistol D. A knife E. A rape whistle Can you honestly tell yourself that option C isn't the only right answer?

Don't get my thread locked. Keep it civil or leave. The bold part is very important. Overall though i'm impressed with the civility of the thread. There's been a few hiccups but for the most part it's remained a fairly civil debate. On the live forum it would have become a shit storm before the end of the first page with insults flying. I appreciate you guys being respectful of this forum, as does Violet. LOLZ. Right after this post I was called an arse.

Right. I'm sure the victim of an armed robbery is thinking "if only there were more social projects and better funding of underdeveloped areas" as he is left stabbed and bleeding out in some alley after being jumped by a gang for his phone and tennis shoes...

But using the analogy of a young vulnerable woman about to be assaulted makes it very difficult to say anything without sounding like an idiot. This isn't going to exactly sound righteous, but I'd say in that scenario you describe, she hasn't got much of a chance anyway. If she pulls a gun she's gonna get stabbed. If she shoots the guy with the knife she's still gonna get beaten up by the other blokes. That's a situation that hasn't got any good outcome at all, so having a gun, honestly, isn't going to do much good.

What would be your solution, then? It's hard to say, but one would assume that tougher punishments - our prison system is already overcrowded and people already get released early due to this. Also - our prison system, while certainly not a 5 star resort, isn't exactly horrible. To top it off, our legal system is as screwed up as our political system, stepping up police patrols - this requires money (and people). It's hard to convince people that more taxes are good. Not to mention that is A LOT of ground to cover. Plus with the police vs the people tension...this could have a reverse effect, education, social projects - again, the money thing here (yeah, we'd have more of it if we didn't spend it all on wars that aren't our fight...but that's a whole different can of worms), this would also require people to show up AND to put forth effort of their own. Yes, our education system is horrible. Part of that is because it's almost a move them in, move them out system (with horrifically screwed up measurement system). and better funding of underdeveloped areas - again...this is the money thing. might have some positive effect and ought to be at least tried before the government just upgrades to the whole "carry whatever the hell you want around". Responses in bold. Not that I completely disagree. These are things that have been tried...and are still being tried - what I've written are the issues actually encountered; and not be just arguing for the sake of argument.

Honestly, I think the money issue could be solved just by some better budgeting, but I'd be inclined to agree that the state of anyone's government doesn't exactly allow for that.

Will a Taser allow you to promptly dispatch three adversaries? What if the are intoxicated? I've read reports of drugged individuals shrugging off Taser strikes as if they are nothing. Sorry but I'm sticking with a firearm on this one.

Some sort of stun weapon would be much more agreeable. The Taser C2 isn't the answer to every situation...but it's is a great less than lethal option. Some difference from the LE model: 1) It 'auto shocks' for 30 seconds. Meaning you fire, then put it on the ground and leave while it continues to 'do it's thing' for 30 seconds. 2) If you use it, then (semi obviously from item 1) lose it...you send the police report to Taser and they replace it.

Sorry but I'm sticking with a firearm on this one. Please see bolded. It IS a good option in some cases. The best example I can use is a personal friend of mine. She is a mother of 2 smaller children and a husband who works out of town and odd hours (meaning sometimes he returns at 2am). She is not experience with firearms and has never been taught. She is in the process of that...but for the time being a Taser C2 suits her well. IF one of her children, husband, etc alarms her...and she shoots them with the Taser, well, they are wounded - but not dead. Also...there is no recoil or bang - and again...with her experience (as we proved when we started teaching her) she is almost more dangerous with a firearm than without.

LOLZ. Right after this post I was called an arse. If you're going to jump to conclusions and start berating me for "ignoring" posts then expect it. Sorry but there it is. I call it like I see it. Every post where I have dropped hard numbers you've choosen to ignore. Ruthless told the story of a friend who committed suicide after being raped by two men at knifepoint and contracting aids. You ignored it. Your typical response in this thread has either been "that doesn't happen much" or some sort of snarky remark. Don't like getting called out on it than don't do it.
