Aschenblume's Guide on the Conqueror
Hello! For those that don't know me I'm Aschenblume, Precision Gaming member, super-unicum, and avid forum member. I'm here to help newcomers/newdrivers learn a thing or two about one of my favorite tanks. The British Tier 9 Heavy Tank FV214 "Conqueror".
First a little history:
The FV 214 Conqueror, also known as "Tank, Heavy No. 1, 120 mm Gun, Conqueror" was a British heavy tank of the post-war era. It was developed as a response to the Soviet Joseph Stalin IS-3 heavy tanks; its 120 mm gun was larger than the 20-pounder (83.4 mm) gun carried by its peer the Centurion. Conqueror's role was to provide long range anti-tank support for the Centurion. Conquerors were issued at nine for each regiment in Germany, usually grouped in three tank troops.

How to Play :
Conqueror is the first of the British heavy tanks to receive real heavy tank firepower. One thing it still retains is it's RoF (rate of fire), aim time, and accuracy. One of the fastest firing 120mms in the game it will make medium tanks wish they were never born. The amazing Rolls-Royce Griffion engine, which is also equipped in the following:
-FV215b
-Centurion Mk. 7/1
-FV4004 Conway
This engine in correlation with the FV214A's suspension allows the tank to turn on a dime. But it's isn't the only thing to move quick Conqueror Mk.II's turret is very fast. There iis no reason for this tank to be circled by a medium who thinks he is hot stuff. The 120mm L1A1 cannon is in my opinion the BEST 120mm in the game.
The 120mm L1A1 is also equipped on the following :
-Tortoise
-FV 4004 Conway
-FV215b
1.9sec aim time and .33 accuracy allows this thing to pull 360 quikscope snapshot MLG type shite. Even though you have a great gun don't be the newb camping in the back of the map don't be afraid to get stuck in.
However do not expect much out of the armor. IT IS the same Chassis as the Caernarvon with the same armor characteristics. Although it's the same chassis it is still able to pull off bounces. Just don't drive around thinking you're a Maus in a tier ten game. You can do that when top tier though, just don't be dumb.
DO NOT BE THE HEAVY DRIVER BEHIND THE ARTY.
Don't forget you're in a heavy tank, especially when top tier. When the engagement has turned into a stalement it is you're job to push on over the top and attack. Put some fear into the enemy with your monstrous cannon.
When Bottom tier :
It is best to play the role of supporting heavy. Ex. The enemy is distracted by a big ole E-100 and you pop up around a corner and plug the enemy in the rear. Enemy tank doesn't like that, turns his attention to you, and gets a big 150mm shell from the E-100 from before.
Equipment Load out :
Large caliber gun rammed
-can never have to much rate of fire
Advanced crew ventilation
-make your crew a little more comfortable when having their tea
Heavy Tank spall liner
-perfect for the "why me arty" type and or kamikaze individual
Gun laying drive
-why not pull the 360 MLG quikscopes faster?
Vertical stabilizers
-it already fires well on the move why not improve it?
How Do I Like to Play?
When I hop into the driver's seat of the Conqueror I like to get stuck in as fast as possible. Pushing the Rolls-Royce Griffin engine to its max speed of ~30KpH towards the front line. There I put the gun's amazing performance to work pulling out to quickly fire at the enemy. The turret is strong enough and sloped back enough to bounce most shots that are being shot up at it. Not so much on level ground as the cheeks of the turret are a known weak spot.
WARNING : the hatch at the rear of the turret is not a reliable week spot to shoot at as the optics count as spaced armor and the hatch itself is very sloped back.
When facehugging a Conqueror it is best to shoot it in the cheeks and the very visible turret ring. (Which can easily be jammed when shot at)
Technical Detail :
The tank's ammo storage compartment or ammo rack is located in the front left hull of the tank. Next to the driver's postion.
Another note worthy of consideration :
The Conqueror doesn't have a whole lot of ammunition (35 rounds) and you will occasionally run out of ammo in long duration battles.
I hope this helps a lot of Conqueror drivers out there. If you have questions feel free to post them as I'll be watching over this thread. Good luck
