Aschen's Guide for the Leopard 1
Hello hello! It's me again I'm looking at my favorite tier ten at the moment, the oh so sexy Leopard 1. DISCLAIMER : there are several other Leopard drivers who drive better. This is just what works with me.
Ok, let's get started with the Tier Ten German Medium Tank the Leopard 1 MBT.
Development :
The Leopard (or Leopard 1) is a main battle tank designed and produced in West Germany that first entered service in 1965. Developed in an era when HEAT warheads were thought to make conventional heavy armour of limited value, the Leopard focused on firepower in the form of the German-built version of the British L7 105-mm gun, and improved cross-country performance that was unmatched by other designs of the era.

Leopard 1 is the definition of a medium tank in its purest form. Fast, mobile, hard hitting; this tank will scream around the battlefield like a fighter jet, kicking @ss and chewing bubblegum. The MTU MB 838 CaM 500A engine with 830 horses makes this thing the Speed Racer Mach 5 of medium tanks (65Kph). The German version of the L7 Royal Ordinance, the Bordkanone L7A3 is a freaking laser it is that accurate (.3 accuracy) and has a respectable 6.9 rounds a minute. Light tanks look in envy of this tank's mobility of 54 degrees traverse speed.
But at what cost?
Well in order tot have made this tank so mobile it needed to drop a few thousand pounds. So what it dropped was it's armor. The Germans figured with better and badder guns coming off of the factory line it made armor useless. So they decided to just focus on the mobility and the gun.
70/35/25 mm of armor is not enough to go pick a fight head on with a heavy. Hell my car has better protection.
Equipment Loadouts :
There are many different was you can load this tank out a lot of people like to run optics to improve the tank's already great view range (410m) even more. Camo nets are a great way to be sneakier, and then rammer. (Not in any order)
A list of what I've seen people use :
- Vertical Stabilizers
- Large Caliber Gun-Rammer
- Gun Laying Drive
- Camo Nets
- Coated Optics
- Advanced Crew Ventilation
- Binoculars Telescopes
- Wet Ammo Rack
What I use :
- Vertical Stabilizers
- Large Caliber Gun-Rammer
- Advanced Crew Ventilation
Technical Detail :
The ammo rack is towards the front of the tank.
How I like to drive :
I get stuck in quick because I'm impatient and want to kill things. Like a scout I rush infront of my team to get the early spots, I don't suicide scout. Once done I run to the position I'm most effective in usually on the front line depending on the map. There I start killing tanks hopefully I'll win and push on if my team was supporting me. After the first few tanks are out of my way I put my gear into mach 5 and scream around the battlefield not stopping for anyone and flanking the main force.
What I like to do when there is a big dumb heavy tank is circle him.
Quik MLG Pro Tip :
When circling a heavy tank ALWAYS put your first round into his tracks then let the fun commence by circling the dumb heavy tank.
Juking Trick :
When driving at a tank destroyer for example be erratic. Every few seconds change direction and he might miss his shot. For example you see a Jageru (JagdPzE100) you drive diagonally to the right and then... TURN diagonally left, and right as you did that he was leading the shot and pulled the trigger planting the 170mm love shell into a building or hill.
Ninja Kill :
This is how you fire through a bush without getting spotted.
1) pull up to bush and spot your victim
2) reverse away from the bush until you can't see through it, only the tank's outline
3) FIRE!
4) rinse and repeat
Why not get a BatChat 25t or STB-1?
It's all your choice but what the Leopard does better than those tanks isn't much.
BatChat 25t and Leopard 1 have the same top speed, but the Leopard is more mobile.
Leopard 1 is faster than the STB-1, has a better aim time, accuracy, and 10mm more penetration on the L7.
Ok I hope this has been helpful for Leopard 1 and Leopard PT A drivers. Have any questions? Ask away!
Be sure to tell me what I should do next.
Good luck tankers!
