Just a general review/overview of what I believe, is one of the best tanks in the entire game and one that you shall all consider picking up at one point
So with that out of the way, let's get this shitty review over and done with.
(obligatory E5 porn is obligatory)
First off the bat, let's talk about this gun, it's a fascinating one for a heavy tank of tier X, the 120mm M58, the OG L1A1.
The gun sports a healthy 6 Rounds Per Minute, which combined with the 400 alpha can give it a nice DPM of around 2400 base, (although this is only for 75 percent crew, a 100 percent crew will get you a lovely 6.26 RPM and 2502.86)
It also sports 258 pen on it's standard ammo and standard 340 HEAT pen for a heavy.
The gun is also insanely accurate for a tank mounted on a heavy, at 0.34 with a nice shell velocity of 1,067, so this tank doesn't need to lead too much and I've found for me at least, it's easier to judge the leading time compared to for example a T-62A/140, just my opinion on that matter though.
And the tank also sports pretty decent dispersion stats,
0.18 on both track traverse and moving, with a fairly nice 0.08, all these numbers in terms of this type of dispersion is how much it feeds the size of the aiming circle.
All these numbers mean, the tank is not a high alpha monster like the catastrophic firepower of an E-100's 15cm or the naval barrage from an IS-7, but it does not mean the alpha is weak, the alpha is more than remedied by the consistent stream of accurate, brutal fire power this can lay down.
The tank is also good at shooting on the move from my own experience, there is many times where I've had complete bullshit snapshots from 500m+ away while moving full speed, this tank is just a snapshotting, on the move god in practice.
To stop orgasming over the gun, we should know it's good at this point right? so let's move the fuck on.
Now let's talk about how this hunk of shit moves about, the tank is a fairly light (for a heavy) 53 tons, and is powered by a (quite nice actually) 875hp engine, giving it a pretty good 16.37hp/t ratio, which in turn means this thing can shift pretty well for itself and gives it a good role as one of the more faster and therefore flexible tier X heavies.
The tank is capped at 37km/h, but I find it can attain this speed in nearly all terrain it will encounter, the only time it will struggle is some of the ridiculous ridges you see on Dragon Ridge for example (fuck that map)
Along with sporting a good mobility, this thing can turn pretty well, with a fairly alright 33.37 degrees on the turret and a pretty decent 30 degrees on the tracks, this thing can keep up most of the time with mediums trying to make a flanking play (do not under any circumstance, think you have the upper hand in a turn fight vs an E5, you will pay for it heavily if you fuck it up.)
I should add the tank does have a big downside to it's mobility department, the reverse speed is capped at 12km/h, so be wary when making reverse manoeuvres, since it won't be going anywhere quickly.
And now on to the armour, the bread and butter of heavies.
(Since we haven't got the updated collision models of the remodeled PC E5, this old chart will suffice greatly)
As you can see, the upper hull is nicely rounded and angled giving it an nice effective thickness, the lower plate is not as dire as it seems and will garner many bounces, but don't expect it to hold up for too long, the corners are incredible weak and the center of the hull won't bear much of a kicking if exposed to it.
Now you might start saying, "Fulcrum, what is the big weakspot, Fulcrum, FULCRUM"
Well ladies and gents, it's that god damn cupola, that god damn cupola that is one of the only things keeping this tank from being a fucking god, the neck of it is large enough for most tanks you'll be facing to pick out and focus down, and that 2250 health will disappear pretty damn fast, so yeah it's a pain in the ass.
Now to wind this review down, so I can go to bed.
Some general things you should know about this tank is, it has 2250 health as you can see above, it sports 8 degrees of gun depression which means it's the ultimate in humping ridge lines,
It sports 400m view range, so yeah, you can't really hide from it, so FUCK YOU CAMPING TD'S, YOU AIN'T HIDING ANYMORE NOW ARE YOU?!
I'll be sure to update if I find anymore info needed sharing.
Knew I forgot something, my recommended load out is.
Gun Rammer, Optics and Vert Stabs. why that particular set up? it tailors to aggression and allows me to have an aggressive anti-TD presence.
Oh and I full recommended running cola on this thing, it barely burns and can benefit greatly from the extra crew bonuses.
and I guess the radio range is okay, so no need to do your best Lionel Richie impression
