Recently got this bad boy and I enjoy it, but I want to know how others use theirs and what tips/tricks you may have to help me do a little better.
So far, I'm using it as a clean up tank, similar to the T71. I aggressively scout for the first part of the match, taking shots at targets of opportunity but reposition if I think I'll be trapped or rushed. Once the match is winding down I go looking for weak tanks to abuse and then move through to the red flag to finish any arty that may still be alive.
If a flank has stalled, I act as bait to get the reds looking at me and I try to encourage the greens to rush through and help. That works..... sometimes....
My ultimate goal is to get the Leo 1, but if I keep enjoying the 251, I'll keep my crew in it and transfer my 15~ skill crew from my JPZ E100 to the Leo 1.
Thoughts?

Don't know much about the tank other than what I've read and seen in games, but it's definitely on my "gotta have" list.

Pro tip: HEAT has a MUCH higher muzzle velocity, don't be afraid to to use it when you're sniping.

Do a scout run, then either passive scout and take opportunistic shots, or pull back to snipe. its kind of like a medium really; a baby Leopard. its also one of the only tanks that can use HESH effectively because it has a really quick reload time; so you can quickly switch to them if you flank somebody and hit them in the bum with it. haven't played it in a long while though.

I was afraid of trying to snipe with it.
I was in the mindset of it being a run n' gun tank.
It's hard for me to passively scout in anything. I hate not putting holes in people, and it's hard to rely on the greens to do anything most of the time.

Nah. Snipe in it like you would in the leopards. I don't know what everybody is complaining about when it comes to the shell velocity. back when I played it I thought it was fine. take a decent amount of HEAT in it too. Like you said you can't leave the potato greens to do damage, and I never brought enough HEAT with me when I needed it the most.

You could always just sell out and go 70/30 HEAT and HESH like a gold noob

Definately keep several HEP shells on board to deal with Lights and SPGs. It will pen most of them and does more damage than the regular AP shells. It also reloads quickly enough you can switch types at need without too much wasted time.

And don't forget your gun depression is better over the side of the tank than directly in front. This can help you work hills a little better.
