This is a guide and overview of the Tiger tank, tier 7 German heavy.
The Tiger is the tier 7 German heavy on the E-100 line. In real life it was known for its gun and armour (and breaking down).
In wot however, it's facing tanks that were designed to knock it out, as well as its historic prey of tanks like the tier 5 T-34 medium tank. This means that whilst the gun is still amazing, the armour can leave alot to be desired, however WG buffed the hell out of it, so not only does our Tiger 1 get the gun that Tiger 2s used in real life, it also has ridiculous reload time, mobility, hp and all manner of things. Rest assured, the Tiger in wot is far better than its historical counterpart, and with the right knowledge on how to equip and play it, you can make everyone suddenly be grateful that the Tiger in real life wasn't this good, wouldn't have been good for us if it was.
First off, equipment. I run with gun rammer, gun laying drive, and vents (i stack the bonus provided by vents with BiA and chocolate).
Consumables: i use auto fire extinguisher, small repair kit and chocolate (WG made the Tiger that ridiculous that as long as you have jack of all trades, losing a crew member barely affects it, as even when they crew aren't working as well, the tank is still better than its competition)
For crew skills, i'd go with sixth sense, repairs, brothers in arms, then jack of all trades and preventative maintance for survivability, after that, go with the whatever you want.
With this setup, you get a 5.3 second reload time, and accuracy akin to that found on the E-50m.
Playstyle: this tank used to be a pure sniper, and although it still snipes very well, it now can use it's mobility to flex around the battlefield like an E5 (don't fail platoon and try to flank E3s though), and plays second line support very well. I tend to let heavies with armour take the lead (if they aren't camping red line) and use the Tigers insane dpm to slaughter enemies who engage them. However this is wot, and finding a heavy who pushes is as likely as finding an honest politician. So you need to maximise your survivability, to do this, sidescrape.
The Tiger gets 80mm of side armour, this is enough to bounce Jagdtiger shells if you sidescrape at a shallow angle. So put that to use and make sure you always have cover ready to sidescrape off. Always remember to check the map, the Tiger is fast enough to relocate, if your flank is about to fall, get out of there. No point going down in a blaze of not much glory. The mobility also means you can react to changes in the battle, move to intercept tanks that have made a push for arty etc, always use the mobility to your advantage.
People in wot know the Tiger has paper for frontal armour, and they get cocky and rush it. Punish them for this. As i said, always avoid sitting in the open, have cover nearby, and always to try to make it so that your enemy has to round a rock or corner to get to you. When they try, put a shell into their front sprocket/drive wheel. If they have to approach you at an angle, you can both break their tracks and damage their tank this way, and the rof is fast enough to keep people permatracked,, plus you will be taking their hp too.
In regards to offensive ability, the Tiger has a high pen gun, with amazing stats, meaning it's accurate, aims quite fast and fires fast. You shouldn't need to use premium ammo often as the Tiger is accurate enough to hit tier 9 weakspots even at range. When top tier you can often auto aim enemies and pen, but i wouldn't rely on it too much. Even with high pen guns i always aim at weakspots, just to make sure RNG has less chance to screw you over.
Other than that, try to bear in mind your enemies strengths and weaknesses as the Tiger is versatile and can use enemy weaknesses to its advantage.
