Often reveared as the best tier 6 medium in the game. With the touch of the right hands, the Cromwell is never out classes.
Think of the Cromwell as a light tank with pmm on the tech tree. It has nice acceleration, a great final gun, and a top speed of 64kmh.
Equipment:
Rammer
Optics
Gld
Consumables:
Small first aid
Small repair
Food, yes food. Once you become fully competent in this tank, you can make 40k silver + without ops and with premium time with food.
Perks:
First things first, brothers in arms then boost that view range way up. Optics and food are already helping you right out the gate. I'd go with recon first then signal boosting. With these two skills you can be a deadly scout even in tier NINE games if you so choose. Your mobility and speed help keep you out of harms way.
Next, train camouflage skills so you can scout closer without being detected. I'd go with silent driving first since you should always be on the move. Then camouflage, then muffled shot and then green thumb.
What about sixth sense? NO. this tank caters to always being on the move. It's ok if you get spotted, keep moving. Your armour wknt ever bounce anything unless it's a lucky auto bounce angle. If you can't catch the target, you can't hurt the target. (Target being a moving Cromwell.)
Ammo racks are a problem with this tank as well as the occasional fire. But again, if you play it to its core strengths, it won't be a problem.
That said, I would choose safestowage and firefighting somewhere in there.
Now, how do we use the Cromwell to its strenghs? As we said earlier, think of it as a light tank with pmm. At the beginning of the game, run out and start spotting. But, DO NOT FIRE you gun. With the camo skills trained and view range, you'll have quite an advantage over almost everyone you'll face due to how the general player base is.
After you do your first run of active scouting, try finding a spot to passive scout. Preferably something with a little noll so you can hide yourself if the enemy sees you. Stay in place until you are no longer detected.
Late in the match, use your speed and nice dpm to cod tanks low on health. The Cromwell can cod nearly EVERY Tank it'll ever face. It's great coding tiger lls especially.
The apce on this tank is great as well. I carry a 50/50 loadout. The Cromwell has great accuracy up to a respectable distance. I haven't found a tier 8 heavy this thing can't punch through from the front. But be warned, if you get detected and shot, your ninja days will be over.
What the Cromwell does lack however, is on the move accuracy. It can not mount a vstab sadly. So either get very close to your targets, or remain a healthy distance and snip away.
With these tactics, I run a 97-98% damage standing. It takes roughly 3700 combined damage to get there.
For me, the Cromwell has a permant home in my garage. And I hope it does on yours as well.
This concludes this guide. I hope this helps someone.
Stay tuned for more tips and guides in the future as I turn over a new lead here.
