My two youngest boys were born on an airbase in Spain and were around them until they were 7 and 4. I used to tell them that it was "the sound of freedom" whenever they'd hear a military aircraft flying overhead, taking off or landing. I still say the same thing.

Went to a local aircraft museum yesterday after visiting the dragstrip. Got pictures of pretty much their entire collection. Instead of linking 44 separate images, I'll just give you guys links to the Imgur galleries.

I still say the same thing. i lived down from upper heyford USAF ,back in 1986. saw some awesome aircraft, A10s , F111s, Blackbirds, tom cats, and loads of others. Of course the down side was that on a certain night in 86 we got no sleep when the big boys headed to Tripoli.

I have a burning question involving one of my new favourite planes in War Thunder, the captured German P-47, I understand JG200 used a lot of captured aircraft, but how far did they go with it, false flag ops etc?

Not really with the fighters. They tried to tag captured B17s onto the tail end of B17 raids. That was stopped rather abruptly by the introduction of the YB 40.

Just use incendiary and a normal ball round and you'll chew a Fortress up. Even worse if you just target the cockpit. Altho this did unfortunately lead to the destruction of several legitimate Forts who had no radios.

Might just be my leftover salt from War THunder cannon damage models.

I want to ask for people who know way more than I ever will, with regards to the German Minenschoss rounds, how effective were they in practice, for say, the MG151/20 and the Mk108s, in comparison to the HEFI rounds the Hispanos tended to use?

I only got to see it on the telly, the downside of being a Northerner. Shame the BBC didn't show much of the drill and ceremonial, while they were parading down the Mall all the BBC showed was James Holland.
